Auto A/C question

This may be a dumb question but it’s something I can’t find an answer to by searching.

On my thermostat controls, when I click the AUTO button, the A/C button automatically lights up. Is that normal? Does that mean the compressor is really turning on? I’m obviously using heat since it is winter...

Yes, light comes on, compressor will run if it needs to "dry" out the air, otherwise no when it hits the set temp.

yes, the compressor is running to act as a dehumidifier, it does not cool the air if the thermostat dictates that heat is on.

The auto light will go out if you push the ac button. But the temp, fan speed, and location of air being put into the cab will be auto still.
