Front Valence Removal

Has anyone removed the front valence?

I'm talking about the chrome piece that looks like a mustache, as well as the gray plastic below it.

I haven't looked under the truck yet, due to bad weather here, but would like to know how difficult or easy it is to remove?

Is it held on with clips/screws/or both?

 

I'd like to remove them and color match paint them.

Can’t speak to the chrome, but the bottom air dam is is held on by quite a bit of screws. The heads of the screws are on the top side so you need a shallow socket to get to them.

Near the wheel wells, you have to take off a couple of screws from the wheel well liners to get to the last few screws on the air dam.

Yes, it's pretty simple and straight forward once you crawl under it and look. I did the same thing - painted the chrome black. There are clips all the way around. I used a trim tool to get it started and it went pretty smooth after that. I also had to drill out two rivets that were holding the license plate frame on and used small bolts to put it back on.

There is definitely a thread on here with at least one forum member that opted to cover the “mustache” with color matched vinyl. I will try to find it.

Thank you Everyone for your info...I'll take a shot at it once the weather gets better only 45 degrees, but the wind is making more like 35 degrees, not to mention the light drizzle!
