Dealer Offered Paint Protection

Nearing a decision on a 2018 Sierra purchase and have a question re: paint protection.

Does anyone have feedback on a product called 'Ultimar' ?

I couldn't find any search results here and there seems to be few Google search results via forums. Only see a dealership's video demo of spraying paint on the hood of a vehicle in their showroom and wiping it off... with some effort.

Considering an Onyx Black Sierra and never having owned or cared for such paint on a vehicle in the past... concerned about it's up keep with bird droppings, tree sap, etc.

In the past I've always passed on these 'up-sells' ... but am looking for the best way to approach the pre-emptive care for Onyx Black paint... :D .... as well as the others.

What's the price to the paint protection they're offering?

Are you talking a ceramic coating or paint protection film

$ 699 ....
For that price I would get the truck paint corrected and ceramic coated instead

From what I understand... it is 'surface protection' as referred to on their site.

Nothing mentions 'ceramic coating'

If it where me I would pass of their "paint protection" and find someone who would get you a good ceramic coating done.

The feedback is much appreciated from all !

I'm not up on ceramic coating's ins and outs... anything special to be aware of when contacting local detailers to have it done?

That what I am going to with my black 2018 Silverado.

Just so you know if you've never owned a black vehicle......Black is not a color , it's an occupation.

Looks great as long as you have the time to devote in caring for it.

Looks great!... and yes... the time it requires qualifies as an 'occupation' to keep it looking like that  :thumbs: .... from everything I've been told.
