Garage Door Opener (HomeLink)

Hello all,

New to the form and can use your help please. My truck is 2007 Silverado 2500HD, Classic Body Style and I wanted to add Garage Door Openers build into Overhead console, so I purchased console on ebay with opener built-in and installed but couldn't program. Now I'm familiar with programming these and know the struggles they can bring but have usually always overcame them except this one. First thing I wanted to do was clear anything stored so I held outside 2 buttons for 20 seconds but here is weird part. To clear your supposed to hold outside 2 buttons until the LED goes from blinking slowly to rapid. However, as soon as I hold outside buttons it flashed rapidly. In fact, holding any button flashes rapidly, so I can't even get anything to program. No matter what I do I did I couldn't get the LED to flash slowly. So I figured the homelink unit was defective and purchased brand new one. But this one does exact same thing! So now I am really confused and can't imagine both of these units can be defective? Can someone help out please!

Yes tried programming as well however same thing happens. As soon as I hold a button down it flashes rapidly. Usually when programming you hold down button and it flashes slowly and then hold garage door opener button and when it programs it flashes faster. But when I hold button down and garage door opener it doesn’t change flashing light, still flashes rapidly.

Are you sure it is a Homelink unit and not the Lear unit like in my 2011?  Is the Homelink emblem on it?

Another issue can be which recently happened to me is that new openers are not compatible with the older Homelink units.  I had to by a Compatibility bridge for our 2010 Homelink remote to work with Chamberlain openers bought last year.

Yes positive it is homelink. Says homelink on back of device. I swear the thing doesn’t even go into programming mode but what I can’t figure out is why 2 of them would be like that. I wonder if wiring is backwards? Haven’t checked that yet.

Do you have a separate garage door opener that operates the garage door independently from the new home link in the truck?

Do you have a Sky link on your garage door opener? If you have a sky link or similar opener that is always changing code the home link will not work and you have to use the coded openers.

I myself went threw this for a while to only find that my openers are not comparable to the openers in the truck.

yes I am I have original remotes with the door opener and no sky link. I’m pretty sure either something is messed up with the wiring on this thing or it is totally different model with different programming instructions to what my manual is. It doesn’t behave anyway like the manual describes for programming. I’m going to try to take it down and play with wiring but if that doesn’t work I might try post a YouTube video so guys can see what I am talking about.
