Adaptive Exhaust Valve Anti-Rattle Insert?

Recommended Posts

I was at the auto show this weekend and happened to look at a 6.2 L Silverado if memory serves me, and I noticed this orange looking triangle wedge inside the spring of the adaptive Exhaust Valve. Is this just something the dealer is supposed to remove or did GM design this disk to go in there as an Anti-Rattle feature? Since this is just a valve and a spring with no dampener, mine rattles at idle.

Has anyone else seen this orange triangle piece?a64e2d95f36fd0cdcf01969da2e68b98.jpg

I wonder if it is a device that keeps the valve from being clamped open. Sort of like a tampering ring on a jug of milk etc.....
