I installed it yesterday. When I originally bought this truck, I was able to crawl under it. But after putting on the side steps, I can't. So I had to pull it up on ramps to do the oil change. I was a little leary of the weight since they are plastic/composite, but they are rated for 12k vehicles with 3k per ramp. It was stable on them and everything went smooth.

Looks great

Any idea if the threaded end extends into the oil pan past flush or if it is flush with with the inside of the pan.

Not sure if that makes sense but hope you understand.

It extends into the pan past flush just a tad.  It lets enough of the oil out though.  There's more trapped in the engine than the drain valve prevents from draining out of the pan.

One option is to file a notch on one side of the end of the threaded portion, This way, if the threaded portion extends into the pan a bit, the last bit of oil can still flow thru the notch and out of the pan.

if it really mattered that much, we're talking about 1% of the oil in the system, and it was bothering you (or anyone), just pour another 1/4 or 1/2 quart and let it flow through. Otherwise, whatever is left is not going to make a difference in the long run. It's not much different than gas in the tank. You never run dry, so there is always some "old" gas in the system. ymmv. :)

Yep.  That's what I was trying to say but you said it better!

Well, it's been 8 mos since the last oil change at 10k, and was at 15k yesterday, so went ahead and did the oil change. Been trying to drive it less due to the window leak issue by commuting to work in the Outback and with Covid19, haven't taken many trips either with the truck. So 5k miles in 8 mos isn't bad. The oil change is so much easier with the fumoto. Last change, seen in previous pics at 10k, tried a Supertech filter. Had noticed that the PSI on start would go a bit past 60 compared to when using the factory AC Delco. So went back to the AC Delco for this change and it stays at 60 max. Don't think I'll use the Supertechs anymore and will stick with the OEM.

Got a good pic of the valve from as horizontal as possible showing it recessed compared to the bar there:

I bought a Valvomax last year:

and love it. I was a little worried about the possibility of the Fumoto accidentally opening. Probably not much of an issue really, but it’s basically impossible with the Valvomax. It’s got a sweet integrated valve that only opens when a separate threaded drain hose attachment is screwed on. And then as a backup, there’s a gasketed cap that screws on and covers it when you aren’t draining. The redundancy sold it for me.

Great customer service too. My dad has a Sprinter and the originally recommended unit was either a little too long or short to be ideal (I forget which) and after a phone conversation, within a couple weeks they made a new model for him that fit perfectly.
