person01 Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 My AC started blowing warm air yesterday or the day before. I took it in to O’reilys and they said I’ve got Freon. I checked the compressor I think it’s called? And it was spinning when truck was on with AC on. Any ideas of what the issue could be? Quote
1SLOW1500 Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 You said it spinning. But does it cycle on and off or stay running. Next check pressure as it is switched on to see it it is right. Next look for leaks. Oh do you have the recalled lines and bracket? Quote

What year truck? If you have a '14 or '15... even an early '16 its probably the condenser. Look into your grille. Upper right area and see if there is any darker staining or freon/oil seepage as in this post. IF so, that is your problem. Edited May 24, 2019 by Sierra Dan Quote
person01 Posted May 25, 2019 Author Posted May 25, 2019 Thanks for the replies. I’ve got a 2015 1500 z71 so more than likely it’s the condenser. Any idea how much it’ll cost to get fixed? Quote
Sierra Dan Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 If you want the dealer to do it, expect between $700 and & $1200 If you are a weekend warrior that has mechanical skill, buy an aftermarket unit $80-$150 and you can replace it yourself in a few hours depending on beer breaks Only real required tool is a longer 10mm ratchet wrench. I also advise replacing the A/C line O-rings/gaskets. You will need to pull a vacuum on the system and recharge. That part is a toss up, so you could have that done at a shop. Quote

Don't waste time and money guessing. Quote
