Subs with stock radio?

Recommended Posts

May have been asked but tried searching and didn’t find anything. Is it possibly to have a subwoofer under the back seat and still hook to stock radio ?

Yes it is. If you get an amp that accepts high level input and has signal sensing turn on it's as simple as running  power/ground wires and tapping into one of the door speakers for signal.

Bose or non-Bose factory system? Some have said on here that a non-Bose system does not have adequate voltage to send a signal to the amp using high-level inputs and you will need a signal processor. I can confirm a Bose system is easy to tie into. Added a box under the seat, RF 500w mono amp with remote gain, and a RF 12" P3.

Sure it will work, but others posted that the signal coming from non-Bose is terrible and a signal processor is needed for max benefits. Some amps have signal processors.

Depends on how serious you are about your music. Yes a processor is needed for “max” benefits such as time alignment, setting crossovers if running active and the ability to Eq everything.

If you’re looking to just add a little low end to the existing setup it will work just fine.

Honestly not that serious about it like I use to be.  But I would like to have something that adds a little bump to the music.

Unfortunately it is a non-bose system.

Bose or not, it can still sound good. I put a good amount of bump into the truck while staying at a reasonable price point.

Thanks George. what is your go to spot to buy car audio?
