I will keep following the discussion. I am having the same issue. The dealer has replaced both latches, but has not fixed the problem. Hope someone can find a solution.

Dealer should know better and install the OEM rollup or advise that installing another models will jam the tailgate or not form an adequate weather seal.

OEM was changed from the previous roll up on my '16 which appears identical except for an improved release mechanism and tailgate weather seal. The OEM tonneau for the '19 seal sits against the rear and not the top of the tailgate. Bottom of tonneau cover is 3/4" above the top of the tailgate and thje vertical seal drapes against the rear of the gate.....and water forced in will hit the drape and roll down the back surface of the gate and out the bottom. Been through many rainstorms and not a drop has touched the bed surface. And not a single fail to drop on remote.

yes happened to me with my truxedo. numerous, numerous calls and emails with them and no fix. they seemed to be oblivious to the issue as well. My "fix ended up being a very careful but kind of crappy job of trimming the weather stripping horizontally, there's a few gaps now but unless it's raining sideways behind me it stays dry. (that kind of rain hasn't happened yet lol)

video i made

Is there a specific name for that roll-up to order?

Came with the optional appearance package ....sports bar, tonneau and bed liner..should be available separately it has a chevy logo emkbossed on the top of the cover.

had the same issue when i first installed my cover...eventually things settled in and loosened up and no longer have the issue, tailgate opens fine...not that i use the feature that often. another thing you will notice is that if u have the bed packed and theres pressure against the tailgate it wont open as well...youll need to push against the tailgate to release the pressure to allow the mechanism to unlock the tailgate.  sometimes i fell like some of the features with the new tailgates and with the pro tailgate on the gmc...they seem cool but aren't practical for guys that use their trucks in a more traditional way.

i use it less than I thought I would too, but it's a cool feature that'd i'd like to preserve. even if it's only a few times a year i pull into lowes for picking up mulch and just pop the tailgate like a boss lol.

Dealer installed trifold box cover and now power tailgate won't open due to the pressure of cover to tailgate. Anyone else have similar issue and fix please ?

I’m having the exact same issue! Mine is trifold soft cover tho... has your dealer corrected the issue?

Any updates? Having trouble with my tailgate. Been in shop 4 times for this. Showed video of tailgate not releasing while tonneau cover was pullled open. They are blaming my tonneau cover rails.

I had the same issue, i could hit the remote 20 times and sometimes the tailgate would then work. The issue i found was the long rods ( 3 ft ) that actuate in and out to unlock gate  are located behind the tailgate panel, 1 had become unlatched from the actuator mechanism. Simply use a star bit (torx bit) and remove the plastic tailgate plate, underneath the plate you will see the workings of the locking and unlocking sequence. I attached a picture. The dealer quoted me 750, i fixed it in 5 minutes, by simply clicking back in actuator assembly rod, very simple. it must of come unclipped because of how stiff it rides with the crappy OEM Rancho Coil over struts. I hated this new 2019 silverado truck , however since i changed out the original struts,  with new rough country brand, it rides better than new now,  probably another topic for another day. These struts changed my opinion on my truck in general. i love my new ride and the tailgate working put the cherry on the cake! Again :.just remove tailgate cover, like 7 or 8 star head screws, its pretty simple after that. Physically but not too forceably with both hands pull both rods towards each other to lower tailgate, actuate remote several to see how it works , you will likely notice only one rod of 2 actuating, this is your problem or at least mine was, then work on fix from there. The rubber green and red pieces hold actuating rods in place, mine became unsecured. Just clip back in , problem fixed!!!!!

The red rubber piece which actuates rod, there is a Green one for the other rod, simply came unclipped, simply clip back in. very straight forward once you remove tailgate plastic cover

While not relevant to this post, I had the same thing happen.  Now, with a cover, I do worry what I would need to do if this happened again.  Only way to fix it get to the inside of the tailgate
