Replacement transmission

Has anyone looked into a replacement 8 speed trans for their trucks. Getting a little tired of the herky jerky in my 2015.

That is a great question, and you will get a ton of different answers/opinions.

Personal experience with the 8 speed, in my 16 it was developing the dreaded downshift clunk, and hard upshifts around 20000 miles.

My 18 has just gone past 15000 miles and seems to be getting smoother with age. Have not had a hard downshift in a while and is very smooth on all upshifts.

Have you tried the flushes, and the refill with the new fluids?

Not sure if there are tuners for the 8 speed, but that could be a way to go too.

And welcome to the site!

Thanks. Yeah, the torque converter has been replaced, triple flush done and tsb’s are up to date. Things are good for a while, then they get progressively worse. Thought about an aftermarket tune specifically focusing on the torque management issues in the trans, but I’m still under warranty. Worst thing about it is, I really like this truck and would like to keep it. Just wondering what everyone else is doing or has done. Thanks

There are a ton of posts/threads here on the site, just start scrolling through the troubleshooting section and you will find plenty.

Could also open a claim with GM while still under warranty and see where that goes.

Follow up with the claim, that is good information. A lot of guys have had good results after a tune as well. If that’s a viable option for you.
