Simple question. Will putting Bilstein 4600s on my stock 1500 LT 2WD make it a smoother ride better ride compared to the stock factory stuff or no? Thanks

Firmer and not as floaty supposedly. There’s a big thread in the modification subsection.

Is firm mean a harsher ride and also what do you mean by floaty?

No the ride will not be smoother than factory with the Bilsteins.  The ride will be more controlled over bumps and other imperfections.

If you are looking for a smoother ride consider some Michelin LTX/MS tires in a 4 or 6 ply tire.   Perhaps install some adjustable Rancho 9000XL shocks and set them on the softest available setting.  Even then don't expect the ride to be floaty like a mid 90's Town Car or Fleetwood sedan.

YMMV

I’ve got the Michelin’s but where told Ranchos are trash?

Don't have any experience with the 9000XL shocks but they get good reviews online.  The OE Ranchos that come on the Z-71 package GM trucks have few fans around this forum.

Depends on your truck.

Is it a Z60? If Z60, you likely have 20" wheels. The shocks on a Z60 are firmer.

If you have 18s or 17s, you're Z85 and got the floaters. If you enjoyed the float, don't buy the Bilsteins.

20” rim and 2.5 in RC front level

Just looking for a better smoother ride without changing tires

Did you like your OEM shock? If so, expect the Bilstein to be the same if not a bit stiffer.

Honestly yes!! When I first bought the truck new, it glided, hovered, floated, and soared over everything!! It was a great riding truck. I’ve got 30,000 miles now and brand new Michelin’s and it rides like it’s worn out. Which got me thinking about changing the shocks and struts

Going over rail road tracks now is horrible compared to when I first bought the truck and it was no problem at all

Were your wheels 20s from the factory or did you change them?

My first 2014 K2 was a Z60 with 20s and a speed bump made me hate life unless I drove over it at 5 mph.

My 2017 Z85 sails over them at 20 and it's nothing. It's super smooth. It won't corner like the Z60. But bumps are nothing. It's soft.

on my LTX the 4600's work just fine with oversized Michelin defender 285/65/20's give some float back to a 20". Yes the shocks are firmer the difference is when you get on washboard bumps. the floatie shocks will unhook and truck can get dangerous loose. The 4600's dampen better so stay in control better. The extra damping also helps keep bigger/heavier tires connected to the ground and in control.
