MacPH Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Went to pull my cupholder out like I had done in my 2015 multiple times to hide my glock in the storage space underneath, and was surprised to find that they cheaped out on the 2017+ and the cupholder is no longer meant to be moveable. Clips in there like any other piece of trim, it is still removable but is a pain in the ass now. I also have a rattle when I have a yeti in there, it goes away if I press down on the top of the yeti. I'm convinced the rattle is coming from either the metal clips holding the cupholder insert into the cupholder mount, but it could easily be the actual cupholder mounts themselves where they fit into the console mount brackets. Just hard plastic with entirely too many contact points. Anyone taken the old cupholder from the '15s and popped one into an '18? If it fits, I could rig it up with velcro or a number of different things to keep it in place. I would just buy one and find out, but they aren't very cheap @ $80+. Thanks
[email protected] Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 It is amazing how they always take a step backwards I have a 15 model with removable cup holders and it isn't nice to have the area below it. Just baffles my mind what goes through their heads other than just saving a penny
pgamboa Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I did. I bought a 14/15 complete upper tray and swapped my 16+ electronics over. There is a rubber liner on the 14/15 consoles (that don’t come with the trays) you’ll need. I don’t think you can buy this separately. The new tray fits perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MacPH Posted August 2, 2019 Author Posted August 2, 2019 Awesome. Exactly what I was hoping to get as a response, ordering today. Thanks
pgamboa Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Have you ordered your tray yet? I might have one for sale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Huntingfool Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 Same issue here. Had a 2015 that had the removable cup holder. Got my 2017 and grabbed it to pull it out and nothing! Mine also rattles with a cup in it. The removable one never rattled. Engineers at Chevy sometimes have me smh. I will order the parts to retrofit to the old style.
snowtop57 Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 After reading this post I did a little research to see how it was done. Yesterday I got in my 2015 Silverado LTZ to try and tackle this mod. Not only was I surprised to find it it was done by the previous owner, but I also found over $200 stashed in that little cubby hole. what a perfect day
Huntingfool Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 2015 had it from the factory. 2016 is when they stopped.
