C0035 and C0040 on leveled trucks.

Hey Everyone. One thing I have been noticing a lot lately in the shop is that we are having more and more leveled trucks coming into the shop with these codes. What is happening is when they are being installed the lower control on when releasing the upper control arm from the knuckle pulls the wheel speed sensor out of its bracket causing it to run on the wheel and eventually running a hole into the wheel speed sensor harness.

 

I actually explain it and show the repair in the video below. I thought I would bring light to the subject and make a video about it due to the amount I have been seeing lately.

Someone doing a bad install of the level and not ensuring this doesn't happen. On top of that why are the truck owners not checking after a few hundred miles for any rubbing issues.

people who pay to have a level installed are generally not mechanically inclined, hence they pay to have it installed assuming it is done correct and wouldnt think they would have to check it or even know what they are looking at

Exactly. Most of the jobs we have like this are coming from one shop. I called the owner of that shop down here the other day to explain to him what was going on. He acted like it wasn't happening at his shop. I just gave him the "Well it may be a good idea just to let your techs know just in case." talk.
