Starting Problems

At times during the start , the starter will engage and then disengage as if I have released the key.  Then all by itself will reengage sometimes not fully and grinds into the ring gear.  This is happening more frequently and causing damage. It's as though the solenoid releases and then reconnects but not fully so the starter gear is not fully pushed into contact with the ring gear and just grinds. New truck with only 3K miles but doing it since I got it a couple  of months ago.

So why didn't you immediately have the dealer look at it?

And if you did why didn't you mention it?

:)

Take it in and get it fixed before you damage it further.

It's not necessary to hold the key til it starts.

Bump the key and release.  The ecm takes over the same as when it manages a remote start with the fob.

Since it's not doing that it needs repair.

Since it has 3000 miles, it's warranty.
