Valve ping under load

My truck runs perfect until I put it under load like hitting passing gear or taking off fast from a stop.

I have a K & N filter and a hypertech program .

I have had both installed for at least 16 years { I am the original owner} and have not had this problem until about a year ago.

I have replaced the plus and wires and cleaner the fuel system but not no luck.

How can I stop this from happening ?

What fuel are you running?  By fuel I mean octane. When was the last time you ran the truck wide open throttle all the way up until the truck shifted at least twice to get the carbon burnt out of it,

maybe check fuel pressure, both at idle and when you rev up the motor.  It should stay right around 60 psi, only dipping briefly as the engine is speeding up, and return to full pressure when the rpm levels out.

 

Also check that all the exhaust manifold bolts going into the head are present, as they have a tendency to break off, and then the exhaust will leak and cause problems with O2 sensor readings (the effect of this can vary with engine rpm as well).

I just noticed something that we can clear up first.  It is not "valve ping".  I know from my post last night that I read that as engine ping, not valve ping.  If you meant engine ping, then my answer/suggestion stands, davester's answer/suggestion reads like he also read engine ping.

Thank you for the reply's I am sorry my question did not describe my problem properly I normally run 93 octane but have tried 89 , yes I have run it hard though the gears and the valves ping. the same sound old school motors would make when the timing was off and you could adjust it and clear it up. my filter is clean and the motor runs very strong and never makes a sound until I stomp on it.
