Which UCA’s would you recommend for a leveled or lifted truck and why??

I’m OffRoad sometimes every weekend Hog Hunting, zero issues with stock uca’s but I really want to know whether or not I’ll actually notice a positive difference and hopefully not needing additional modifications in order to make the new ones work. Hopefully not opening pandora’s box emoji45.png, the only shop I trust to work on my vehicles is 35 miles away from me and it’s always slammed.

Might want to give Ben Brazda at "Filthy Motorsports" a call and discuss your setup with him. It's what he does for a living. Just say' n.

Appreciate it but I’m not really looking for a build out which I mentioned hoping not to be opening Pandora’s Box but well noted. I’d like something available that perfect fit, more of a plug and play. I may just email him and see what his recommendations are. Will it be the best available uca’s out there, don’t know but I know for sure CST will fit with no issues, just don’t want to say later that I should’ve taken more time looking. Thanks [emoji1317]

You might be surprised. I was. The King set up in my truck required no UCA correction. Made me happy :)

Ben was the guy who recommended the JBA's. Pretty easy guy to work with. Customer service was actually pretty good. Delivery times were as promised or better.

I’m communicating with JBA via email

Well, still haven’t heard back from JBA. I was asked what size wheels I have and still haven’t heard back since 10am Friday morning.

Ok, not feeling good about this, I’m now leaning towards the CST uca’s for when I need new ones.

JBA is a smaller shop (USA made not Chinese). Makes a lot of arms. Communication was why I didn't go with them, was trying to contact them while they were moving their shop to a larger facility. Couldn't talk to a person.  That said they have a huge following with a lot of parts in circulation combined with a good reputation. Ben Brazda recommended them over everything else out there and all he sells is high end suspension.

They are big in the Toyota and jeep world. I have had experiences with vendors who had poor communication and awesome products before. SO not sure I would be scared about it, a lot of times they're just working. But understand your apprehension.

For you since you already have CST, they should know whatever combo of components you have and how to get you to where you want to go.

The difference between the top arms probably isn't too much, there are a few "better" designs, but not sure you would feel a difference between them. I would look at what kind of bushings (frame side) they use. Any geometry improvements? Any quality difference in the ball joints? MFG boxed vs. tubular? Whomever has it all together I would go with.

You will notice geometry/Caster/camber improvements (ball joint angle) more than anything else.

You’ve already sold me on them lol, I’ve already given all my specs and said that I’ve got the 4.5”-5” CST Lift, I’m still waiting for a response. My mechanic scared me with, that’s not a good sign and is telling me to hold off until he gets more information and just recommends CST but he doesn’t think I’ll notice that much of a difference, went ahead and ordered the CST uca’s, keeping them for that just in case moment lol

The CST are press in ball joints and non-greaseable by the looks of your photo, which means not (easily) serviceable, throw out the whole arm and buy new ones by the time the BJ is shot as its not cheap or convenient to press them in/out unless you own a press. The others you posted have some stout arm construction and easily changeable BJ's, if you plan on keeping your truck a long time, I would go that route personally, especially if your paying a lot more for the CST arm than an OEM one. Buy once, cry once.

Appreciate it, I’m not 100% sure but I believe the cap comes off, making them serviceable.

Ok, Tuesday today and still nothing back from JBA. SHIT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I’ve also informed my mechanic and he flat out said: They’re not EVER going a call them especially after communicating with me then flat out ditching me. This is even after I said I’m interested in purchasing their product just needed to know whether they could do it for my truck along with full specs.
Maybe they only service the little Toys and not big heavy American Trucks, they could’ve just said so without leaving me hanging. Houston area OffRoad shop has now black labeled them.

Unfortunately this is common in the off road business.  Most really are bozos. But truth is a lot of the boutique shops just don't have the scale of the larger guys that sell thousands of car parts. I've worked with  some industry leaders on other off road areas(bikes & buggies) and the best of the best guys have small shops, some even out of they're garage.

They get easily overwhelmed when they don't have and can't afford the staff to have real good customer service. not making excuses for them, just a large corporation will usually /but not always have better customer service.

Good luck with whatever you end up with.  It is nice to call/ship/install sometimes and not have to wrestle with any drama or rip offs.

Hate to say it but in general the car/aftermarket/off road industry sucks hard. Only a few smart/standup guys out there that really deliver.

Appreciate your input, I’ve been buying through my OffRoad company for the past 25 years, they’ve NEVER let me down, ever. But, that said, I’ve really enjoyed the customer service through CST, they’ve never let me down and have highest quality products in the market available today. I love new and innovative products but sometimes it’s best to stick with what you know and have excellent experiences with. I get outstanding deals most of the time cheaper than manufacturers online prices.

But, all this said and when the time comes, I just want a great set of UCA’s.

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
