Steering rack movement

I've got the typical front end pop. I have replaced the upper arms, lower ball joints, sway bar links, newer bilsteins. when I turn I get a pop. I cant find it. I did notice that the entire assembly moves a couple inches when you turn the wheel back and forth. Is this normal? I would not think it should have any movement. trying to narrow down the problem. Dont like just throwing money at it to see if goes away.

Maybe the rack itself. Mine got replaced under CPO warranty. theres a bulletin on the steering racks.

I'm asking is if others look inside your hood and turn the wheel side to side if the rack or assembly moves back and forth a couple inches or stays still.

If it is the rack, it is all or nothing.

Just had to replace on our 16 Tahoe, $2200.00 installed by dealer.

Tried every angle with GM for assistance, got a free year of XM/Sirius for both our rigs.

Something, I guess, but they did replace vacuum pump and torque converter for free at same time.

Might be an endlink also, i know on my 2005 GMC Canyon, when i would go from lock to lock every once in a while, it would pop. replaced and the sound went away.

check for any movement or looseness in them,
