Shift Interlock Bypass???

Several months ago, my truck was stuck in park and I could not shift into gear. I found that if I slowly depressed I would hear a "click" and would then be able to shift. My local mechanic replaced the shift interlock solenoid and this fixed the problem for a week or so. Now, I can depress the brake but will no longer hear the "click". I must press the brake pedal and reach down my the brake and push up on a black box located on the brake pedal arm before it "clicks" and I am able to shift. 

 

Long story short, 

is there a way to bypass this shift interlock? Can you remove a fuse that would send power to this therefore being able to shift at all times? Any and all help is appreciated!

Sounds like it was installed incorrectly.  Why not just get the mechanic to fix the problem, as they should do it for no extra charge...
