GM Performance Air Intake

I ordered the performance package on my 2019 GMC AT4 6.2L 10 speed, the Borla exhaust and GMCs Cold Air Intake. I traded a 2017 Silverado LTZ 6.2L 8 speed that had the Borla Exhaust and I put a K&N Cold Air Intake,  both of these vehicles I had Dynoed, the Silverado came out to 365HP 390 TQ, the AT4 came out to 346HP 370TQ, Also the Silverado averaged 18 to 20 mpg, the AT4 only got 15 to 18 mpg. I was up set with the performance , power and mpg, decided to take the GMC CAI off and put the K&N like I've done on all my trucks and went back to the Dyno, 360HP 384TQ and gas mileage went back up to where my Silverado was 18 to 20 mpg. So the GMC CAI SUCKS, IT'S  GARBAGE, and for $625.00 GMC should be ashamed of this crap. Another thing, before I put the K&N CAI on, I took the truck to the 1/8 th mile drag strip, time went from 9.7sec to 9.2 sec, a whole 1/2 a sec, that's big. Now still waiting for a tune for this AT4, I'll break the 8s. But moral of this story throw that Garbage GMC CAI in the trash, it only made 2 hp and 1 tqwhen the K&N made 14hp and 14tq. Another thing that is interesting, the K&N made between 60TQ and 70TQ  between 2500 and 3000 RPMs, so on the lower end that's a lot.

Qurious as to your thoughts then.

I would think it would be a no brainer what with the hoops they go through trying to meet the CAFE standards.

Cost, poor filtering efficiency, additional noise, and I believe in some instances reduced emissions performance. I would be very curious to see how this OEM filter actually filters, being that it’s dry media. Typically those are great for the MAF, but they have relatively less filtering efficiency than oiled media.

Just FYI, don't know if you know, but HP Tuners has a tune out now.... Just saw you said you were waiting on a tune.  Gonna set you back probably $3k to have a shop do a custom tune for it though.

$3K is ridiculous. You can plug in $500 tuners in most cars.

Yeah, those days are long gone.  You have to do a full ECM swap now, and with software to tune it's like $1900.  Figure close to a grand for a performance shop to do a custom tune.

The days of the hand held super chips and the like are pretty much over.

I'm not paying 3 k for a tune, if Diablo or someone else comes up with a tuner for the AT4 6.2L I'll do that. Diablo has tunes for Dodge, Ford, Jeep, and some Chevy and GMCs but not mine. I did get a hold of them because my last 2 Chevys I tuned with a DiabloSPORT inTune 2, they told me they're still trying to get into there system.

I mean, I have seen a place or two do a before and after dyno run with a canned tune like the SuperChips on my 2018 and showed significant under the curve gains...
