Yes yes ive looked before anyone comes at me. 

Im not a member yet bit i do need help. 

My yruck is a 2012 Sierra Denali 1500. It has 140k miles and ive noticed that only from a dead stop when i push the gas it clunks. It also feels like there is a delay to when the front wheels catch. Im not sure what it is and any suggestions would be appreciated.

You mean release,not catch? probably got to inspect brake pads for binding,a little sanding on pads and pad slide area,a touch of antiseize

First off, welcome to the club. We are mostly adults and understand the search function sucks. But if you need someone to get upset at you, head on over to GMfullsize.

This can be caused from a couple of different things but is prolly a combination of a group of things wearing out. 

If the upper and lower ball joints are failing you will get this feeling as everything is shifting position prior to the wheels starting to roll. Ball joints are common on this year of GM truck and are easily serviceable. It is my recommendation to always replace tie rods when doing this as you will almost always need them done shortly after and you will save on labor to replace them now.

 

Could also be the brakes or other suspension related issue. The sway bar end links just about fall apart when they left the showroom floor.

If you can, get the front end off the ground and us a pry bar to move everything around. Lift up on the tires, wiggle back and fourth and side to side. If you can get it to pop you can locate the noise.

Another option is to stand outside and listen while someone operates the unit and see if you can here the noise a bit closer.

So i went through what i could before it started to pour down rain. Nothing seemed wrong but was unable to check out everything. Its just a heavy clunk when i press the gas from a stop. If im really gently then it barely if at all does it. 

Im stumped but will keep updating.

I have a 2009 Yukon Denali that seems to have the same issue. Upon a firm acceleration, there is a "clunk" or sometimes a "clunk clunk" from somewhere in the front. Cant tell if its right side, left side or the middle.  It makes a similar noise (may or may not be the same noise) when going over a speed bump (or in my case the end of my driveway). I've tried a hard acceleration with my foot on the brake and there are no noises to report so I don't think the engine mounts are involved.  Any additional thoughts or solutions?

I have a 2011 gmc sierra that the front wheel has a popping sound on fast eccellration. I have replaced upper and lower balloons and tierod ends and control arms and new brakes and disc . I have spend $3500.00 what else could it be.

    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
    • I had an alternator fail that was shorted internally in such a direct fashion in addition to the larger gauge cables that it appeared like a VERY dead battery. Granted I think the car did power up, it definitely wouldn't start.   Rodent damage to wiring?

    • Using experience to justify bad advice is lazy and typical of someone incapable of articulating why their advice is prudent.    This immediately sets off the BS alert and the advice that followed certainly qualified.   Asking an idiot for help getting out of dumb situations because he is an expert... at getting himself into dumb situations.   Unless I've been living in an alternate universe - the first thing everyone does when getting into a sticky situation is shift to a higher gear 🤨.   Of course not, the torque multiplication, mechanical advantage and finer control typically afforded by the lower gear is far better suited for this scenario.   There ARE scenarios where a higher gear MIGHT be appropriate determined more by the drivers ability to control EXCESSIVE wheel spin versus applying torque to the ground.
    • I'm not sure I agree with "extreme" low speed, high torque sentiment here with regards to the prescribed use of low range. How about...whenever it's needed?   A 2.72:1 transfer case and whatever differential gears these Silverados have (3.42's, maybe?) aren't producing "extremely" low crawl speeds. Or insanely high torque multiplication. Even with the 1st gear in these newer transmissions. But it does provide mechanical advantage and potentially better control at slower speeds. And with extra weight or towing, I think it adds mechanical sympathy for the truck as well.   Plus, traction control and the other assists generally turn off when you shift into low range. Those aren't needed here, they'll work against you if you need wheel spin. In high range you'll need to figure out how to turn off the various modes those assists provide. Depending on the vehicle, those things don't all automatically turn off or turn completely off.   While I agree that a farmer might have some great practical experience, a recommendation to "always" using one gear isn't very informed advice. If the farmer had said WHY and could explain the physics behind his prescriptive "always" I'd definitely listen. The way he's described here makes it sounds like he could either be uninformed or is telling everyone what worked for him, not necessarily that there could be a more advantageous way about things.
