ON Star or My GMC apps

Just purchased a used gmc sierra do i need to pay to use remote start etc. from the app?  Installed my GMC app but not linked to anything said to call customer care..

Unfortunately, yes. I had a 30 day free trial when I recently bought my used truck. The app worked great, but I wasn't about to pay after the trial expired. My latest offer to re subscribe was $11 a month. If they go to $5, I may consider it. At least the remote start from the key fob woks

If you pay a year upfront they will usually do it for $99.

I have a 2013 Silverado and haven’t paid for the app in a few years but am still able to remote start, lock and unlock with the app.

Since I’m paying for full services (remote access/safety and security it’s 16.07$, told them I’m not paying 37$ for that shit and they gave me a discount but seem like I have to call every 3 months for the discount to be applied

Have to call and cancel. They gave me 24.99 for the same service.

Yes, your truck did come with the 5 year OnStar package, but it is non transferable to the new owner.

Not sure how or why, but my 2015 Sierra still works through the app to remote start/key fob functions. I haven't paid for a subscription, and bought it used just over 28mo ago.

Yea, I have no idea how it's still working. I expected it to go away after the 30day trial, but it keeps working. Even the MyGMC.com page says I don't have a plan.

 

 

The Basic Plan it mentions there doesn't show anything about the app working either.
