Should have started this when I bought this truck new a year ago.

2018 Silverado LT Crew cab 6'6" bed 5.3 6spd 3.42 4x4

Its an LT plus so it has almost

everything you could get on an All-star LT. No center console, no sunroof, nav. Good enough.

First thing I did was Katzkins.

Next was Access Tonneau cover and some Go Rhino Stainless steel steps and Bed Rails. Luverne Stainless steel mudflaps. Bed rug bed liner.

AVS Aerosheild deflector. Frame plugs. Then I swapped out the reverse lights, license plate lights, and the cargo lights to LED's. Swapped the antenna for a shorter one.

Lloyd's carpet mats.

Next up I put a Borla S type catback exhaust duals out the back with Stainless steel tips. Of course then I added the Range AFM disabler.

Then I had it ceramic coated.

After driving it like this for the best part of a year it's time for some changes....38c64b0c8c947acc555fc343dcd80b7b.jpgf8e25c3692a7bd603066f33a7837ba42.jpg33b709ba782feb44e366995b6f95a392.jpg32de8f3c5f15c31fa47660db58f2e298.jpg902c96ceab3f4088ccdb189fde087d70.jpg488942990897ef3f78d75f12688bc406.jpg4d8573b41eec612e0f76cb5ba731c3a1.jpg

Big changes.

Dec 19th I ordered a lift kit and tires/wheels from Custom Offsets.

McGaughys 7"-9" set to 9" with the add a leafs for the rear.

37"x12.50x20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Scorpion SC 29 wheels

20x10 -19 offset.

The wheels are new this year none on the Custom Offsets gallery. Or anywhere on Google.

The tires and wheels are coming Dec 30th. And the lift is supposed to be here later in the week.

I scheduled the install at 4 Wheel Parts for March 2. I'm not in too big a hurry it's the dead of winter here in Minnesota.

I'll put up some pics of the goods as soon as they arrive [emoji16]637da4cf88d2489a0f3971725eb7377e.jpg3b3beaf4c0fa360802e38a2ffaa03df5.jpgceb894fcc736bdbb3bab7e4b954e836c.jpg

Using the configurator on the Scorpion wheel website I came up with a rendition of a Black Silverado with a 6" lift with my wheels.

Not sure of the tire size. Maybe 33s?

Think 9" lift and 37's though.

My truck will be just short of a foot taller than it is now.

The pieces are starting to fall into place.

Fed ex showed up with my tires/wheels. Packaged up real nice on a pallet. The lift gate came in handy . These bastards weigh a ton. I just saw my gas gas go down while it's parked[emoji857]. So far two thumbs up for Custom Offsets. Tires are fresh. Made in the 43rd week this year. (end of October)

I'm really impressed with the wheels too. Nice 3" lip. Not bad for a 20x10. Nice chrome. Look to be easy to maintain. It sucks buying something from a picture on your phone hoping you get what you are hoping for.

I wasn't disappointed.

I'm going to drop them off at my Ceramic Coating guy later this week and get the wheels done.

I never thought I'd drop $3500 just on tires and wheels [emoji848][emoji24][emoji24]cb2befe89fd5cced79af8cf3c22cfc88.jpg55db6734f885fe2b65c0370c18c58831.jpg36fe4828adde88973196ba22dc201549.jpg39b554769191baf23479092711f1b2c9.jpg47602fba3cf92b7f0b97ef2915bc9bb5.jpg

Looks like I bought my stuff a week to early.

You have to buy a complete package like I did between noon 12-31 and noon 1-1 and you are entered to win $1000 toward the labor to install your lift/tires.

How many wheel/tire, suspension combo sales do they make in a day?

I would want to think I would have had a decent chance

Maybe one in ten?

That would have almost covered the labor on my lift.

Grrrrrr

Almost all the pieces are in place. The lift kit has arrived.

Still waiting to get the UCA's.

I found them $60 cheaper on eBay than Custom Offsets.

Also waiting for a confirmation on my install date from 4 Wheel Parts.

I'm jacked.

Can't wait to see it installed!

I finally had a chance to open up the boxes and make sure they got everything. All the parts are here. No missing parts. Yayhoo. Still waiting on the UCA'S.

Very stout looking pieces with some pretty nice welds. The u bolts and brake line brackets are unpainted so I'm going to paint them tomorrow.

I also picked up my wheels/tires from my Ceramic Coating guy.

3 coats of Ceramic Pro. Chrome looks like a mirror. He said I could probably run them in the salt as long as I keep them clean but that's next to impossible this time of year. I'll wait. It's snowing as I type this. This is going to be a long six weeks waiting on the install. 88ca307d216b57f41bb6f5d522e684bf.jpg70fd613ca276efb3281bb25c8bf9c113.jpgb680d1b495a9d2a9d73782f5d867488d.jpg5363ce0aae1de0e7382c0faedafe317f.jpg483e3b77b58f54dbc93277b9ea72549d.jpgc6595ba6e2b0a3171c7a1962d19cf1ea.jpg

I'm ordering the Upper control arms this week.

I went back and forth between the McGaughys which have pressed in balljoints and Cognito's that have bolt in balljoints. I then found a thread on here about Kryptonite UCA's the guy (ATXsilverice) was looking for feedback.

He wants some UCA's for his 17-18.

I did some digging and found these are pretty stout. Lifetime warranty on even the balljoints.

Probably going to be at least a month before I get it in the shop to get the lift installed to much going on plus a new Grandson any day now. So my plate is full.

BTW it's f'ing snowing here again .

Did I mention I'm sick of winter already

Another box of parts showed up today. I've been going back and forth between the Kryptonite, Cognito, and the McGaughys UCA'S.I went with the Kryptonite's.

So now all the pieces are in place.

I got my Kryptonite UCA's today from Alligator Performance.

Very happy with these .

Now back to waiting for the snow to melt so I can get this done. Sucks, big cold front last night it was -17 here this morning -34 wind chill.

-19 tonight but little wind.

Balmy compared to last year.

C'mon spring??️?️?️?

That’s way too cold, where do you live?

Kryptonite uca’s look good, I think I like them better than my cognitos. Are the ball joints kryptonite as well?

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
