99 silverado just stopped

Hello folks. I', new to the forum and I Hope someone may be able to help me. I have a 99 Silverado 1500 4WD with the 5.3 V8 with 122000 miles on it. I was driving it the other day  and was slowing down to a stop sign. I suddenly heard a squealing sound for a couple seconds then the engine just shut off. When I tried to restart the engine just spun and acted like it had no compression. I havn't pulled any of the plugs to check compression as of yet. I did check the fuel pressure and got 56 psi but as soon as the pump cut off the pressure drop to about 30. Not sure if that is an indication of anything. Can anyone give me an idea of what it might be or what steps I need to take next? I's raining this afternoon so I'll have to see if I can check compression tomorrow. Thanks in advance, Karl

Doesn't sound good, compression check,yep,last one I heard like that,was,seized camshaft,then timing chain,spun over the gear

Timing chain may have broke.

Put a socket on the crank bolt and see if it turns ready on a could of rotations
