Class 2 Sticker on the Windshield...

It seems odd to have two separate stickers for safety inspection and emissions inspection. In NC both emissions and safety are done simulataenous and tied to the vehicle registration (as well as the weight), thus, no stickers.

 

I think a safety inspection here is like $14 and emissions is $30. Only 22 counties out of 100 here require emissions.

I'd have made them get me a fresh class 2 sticker after that act... Whoever put them on just didn't care.

Inspection, emissions, and then your "tax stamp" to allow you to tow.

Problem is, we're made to make sure our vehicles are road worthy for the roads that aren't vehicle worthy.

So in PA you can get pulled over and fined for being out of inspection if any cop you drive by notices your sticker is not current, no stickers is a great idea but how do they validate that you have a current inspection on your vehicle? I would guess only if you got pulled over and they checked your registration?

Here in NC it is all tied to the tag, i.e. license plate...officer runs the tag and the DMV status comes back (inspection, insurance, annual registration, etc.). The officer doesn't need to stop the driver to run the tag and any hits like failure to register, no insurance, no inspection give the officer RAS to stop the car.

I wish they would do that in PA.

Also in 2017 they stopped issuing stickers for the license plates and people were getting pulled over in other states for expired registration < state says you don't have to remove the stickers.

Sorry, when I get to talking about stuff like that I switch to the jargon...You usually dont see officer's pulling people over for registration violations in other states...it is not really an NC violation if a PA license is expired...

There is apparently legislation that last I read (few months back) they were trying to move emissions to every 2 years and go to some combination sticker for Registration, Inspection, and Emissions. Doubt that will happen though. Someone somewhere will be upset on losing out of the $$.

Sure it is.  If you are driving a vehicle in NC, with PA plates and those plates are expired, you are driving an unregistered vehicle in NC.  Otherwise, everyone in NC could just register their vehicle once in PA, and drive around in NC without having to register their vehicles.

I better check to see if mine is in the console lol, I have had trucks off and on for the last thirty years and have never put one on any of them, I've never really thought about it. with having an emissions and inspection sticker already there I don't really want another sticker there, two is bad enough.

When I purchased this truck back in 2011 the dealer told me that the weight sticker had to be on the truck because the newer trucks are built heavier than the older ones and because of the GVR a weight sticker is required by law.

PennDOT eliminated weight class stickers January 2022. They are no longer required to be displayed on your truck's windshield. Weight classes still apply, it's just the sticker that's no longer issued.
