Has anyone done or thought of replacing the front bumper/grill on a Z71 with a black coloured one as well as the wheels. Ideally the lift would mimic the Trail Boss. I am just kinda curious as to how that would look on our generation of trucks?

Are you asking if anyone has blacked out or “Murdered out” their truck? I would imagine a couple thousand since I see them daily on here, other forums and all over social media. It’s probably one of the more common overall looks in my opinion.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume @BlueSilvyZ71 was talking about his/non-black colored trucks. I agree with you though, the murdered out look is way overdone, that said I still love it and my truck is working toward being blacked out :)

Blue, you can always photoshop it but I can't say I've seen any. Color matched seemed to be the thing with our gen trucks, outside the obvious chrome. I can't say that I'm a fan of the black bumper but you do you.

I've got a Deep Ocean Blue Metallic z71 and that's been my goal since I first saw it on the lot..

Here's a RED one that swapped out for a 2019 grill (at least I THINK that's a legacy 2019 grill)

You know what my friend you’re absolutely right I was looking at this on my phone and through his small avatar picture I thought his truck was black but now rereading his name makes much more sense! Lol And as to there being a lot of blacked out trucks, there are, but it’s really slick look so by all means make yours is black as they come!

I wouldn't do it on the RED..  but hey.. you've got an opinion.. congratulations..

color and chrome looks great for those "over 60".. I'm not interested in chrome at all and I'd take it out of the headlight trim if I could..

You are correct, and when you ask a question about people's thoughts (opinions), you get a variety of answers.

Some you will like, some you won't, part of being in a forum.

I think this is a clean, fresh look!  I like it!   However, the look is very GMC'ish,   imo.

Your opinion wasn't requested.  Whether you thought about doing it, and whether you've seen it done to vehicles specifically like his, were the question OP asked..

Nobody said.. Hey, DO YOU LIKE THIS?

OP is trying to develop his OWN opinion on the matter, not requesting YOUR opinion.

I agree.. it DOES have a GMC look to it (probably due to the deletion of color/chrome horizontals breaking up the grill area).

I was just trying to give OP some visuals that were similar to his request

he could always black out the gunmetal piece across the middle.

This is called seeking empirical data so I can form my own opinion..

it's NOT called

what's your opinion.

Sorry, did not see the post about you controlling this thread.

My deepest apologies. If you like, you can reply with your caps button on, feels kind of like you are yelling at me from across the country.

    • You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.
    • You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
    • Diesel hit $6.00 here today at the truck stop.   Payed $2.79 for E85 today too.
