Jake D Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Released parking brake on a inclined drive way. Went 20ft then truck locked up. Like I hit something. It will shift up to park and down to drive will not move. In drive I give it lot of gas. It pops out of stuck mode and will drive forward and shift through all gears fine. Next time reverse same thing
CamGTP Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Inspect the rear brakes and park brake assembly inside the rear rotor. If you can't spin the rear tires by hand with the truck in the air after you release the parking brake, something is a problem there.
davester Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 When this happens, try lifting up the rear wheels and see if you can rotate them a bit. If the wheels don't move at all (not even a little bit), then look at the brakes. If the wheels do rotate a little (ie, there's some free play in the drivetrain), then I'd be looking at a problem with the parking pawl in the transmission.
Bash74 Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 When you say next time reverse did you have parking brake applied before hand again. If not then I doubt its the brakes. Does it happen throughout the day each time you go into reverse with or without the parking brakes being applied? Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk
Jake D Posted January 16, 2020 Author Posted January 16, 2020 So when I said next time. No I did not have the parking brake set. Nor have I tried to set the parking brake since. I defnitley will take the rear wheels off and see if I have a parking brake issue. Thanks fo replies.
