Intermittent check engine light

My 09 silverado with 70000 miles occasionally throws the check engine light. No real pattern to it. Sometimes its gone the next morning, other times it stays on for a couple of days. Seems to run fine, no misfire, no gas smell etc.

Been a great truck and I'm sure this is NBD.

It's impossible to help in any way without knowing what the check engine light is for.

 

All trouble codes will be stored for a certain period of time. Even if the check engine light just went off the history of the code will still be there. You need to figure out what the code is, then see what the issue may be.

 

Just because you don't notice anything, smell anything or see anything doesn't mean there isn't some sort of issue that you need to address.

Do you know what code it is? Sometimes the seal on the gas cap is not complete which will throw a code. could be as simple as that if you know the code

My 2013 has check engine light intermittent. Code says lean fuel and I've replaced oxygen sensors and that didn't help. Is there something simple so I don't have to pay to put it on a scanner again?

Need to post the code #... should be Pxxxx (4 numbers after the P). There are several codes that can point to a lean fuel condition. Most places will scan the vehicle at no charge (auto zone, advanced auto, etc) or you can get a decent code reader fairly cheap these days
