Engine swap

I'm looking to swap a 5.3 with a 6.0 Yes I know that it will bolt up.

QUESTION. A computer change is needed??

                     Is the extra weight of the engine require any modification ??

                     I just bought a wrecked 2500 for the parts and to put the engine into a 1500.

                     DID I MESS UP ??  THANKS ALL..

You can run with the old computer, but will run lean. Should get a reprogram to match.

Make sure you are swapping same gen / year range so items like crank sensors are reporting correctly.

Putting the engine (6.0) from the 07' 2500HD into the 03' 1500 that has a blown 5.3 engine..

The 07' was in a wreck so most of the parts are re-useable. The body looks PAINFULL..

What body style is the 2007 truck??

They made both trucks in 2007, so it must look the same as your 2003 truck otherwise it will not be a bolt in and go type swap. The newer NNBS 2007 trucks run a different 6.0 engine than the previous gen.

 

And as said, you will need to take it somewhere that does tuning or find a local person that does tuning to correctly program the computer for the engine swap.
