Survey hints possible evidence of future powertrains?

May not mean anything at all, but I’ve seen automotive “journalists” run with less so bear with me...

 

When I did an official GM survey just now, most questions were geared around powertrain and my feelings about each current offering, as well as my preferences for inline vs V6 engines in general. This was one question that caught my eye. Seems like they may be considering some 6 cylinder turbos and/ or a return to the good old 5.7L in the future.

 

 

 

Again, could mean nothing at all...but I reckon they are up to something. Especially if the “hypothetical” I6 turbo they list above could be built off the current 2.7 I4 for minimal investment, and maybe even was planned from the start. Much like they did with the Colorado/Trail Blazer in-line 4/5/6 cyl engines.
 

What do you think? Is the 2.7 just the beginning?

V8, then I6, then V6. Think the straight six would be kinda neat, and super smooth.

I would like a 5.7 to replace the 5.3. It would be nice to have that right at 400 hp 400 tq and then have the 6.2 engine be the base Vette engine. 
 

Also a 3.7 turbo inline 6 would be cool too. Have it make roughly the same numbers as the current 6.2 but have the power band be at super low RPM like the 2.7 is.
