My local dealer just put a new set of tow mirrors on my 2020 Sierra SLE. The blinker lights on the back work, but I can’t get the front LED’s to light up. Anyone that have them know how they work? I’ve tried reverse and turning on the cargo lights.

This is the first set the dealer has seen and they didn’t know. I’m guessing it’s going to need to go back, but wanted to check with y’all first.ffb773a0d90288c946e92b7eb67bcebb.jpg

Anyone? Called the dealer and they told me those lights just won’t work... I think they’re probably wrong but want to confirm. They should come on with the cargo light button right?

If you switched from the regular mirrors to the tow mirrors theres a wiring harness you need to buy to make all those features work

Yeah they supposedly installed the new wiring harness.

There is good information in this thread. According to some, even if you have the correct harness your BCM might not have the pins for those functions in place

I had the dealer install the tow mirrors on my 2020 with NHT and they had to do a software update along with the new harness.  All lights work, engage cargo lamps to get rear lights to work when in reverse.

Thanks I just tried that, but no dice. It’s going back Thursday.

Just to clarify though, when you say “engage cargo lamps” which button are you pushing? The same one you use to turn on your bed lights? The below image shows the buttons I have. No fog lights or task light button which is different than higher trims. Maybe the task light button that I’m missing is the one that does it?

Yes, the button that turns on your bed lights will activate the rearward tow mirror lights when truck is in reverse.

Yeah they forgot to program them. When they bought the mirrors for you a code number came in the box on a sheet of paper. They have to use that to call GM and get the mirrors programed too. And as others have said you need harnesses too to make them work.

There are 2 wire harness's you need, rt and lt, if the truck did not come with that function. Those are another $200-$300, so I am told by local GM parts guy who said he called GMSO on it.

I have a 2021 trail boss lt, I did the tow .mirror install and the 2 harness swap today. I'm pleased to find that the turn signal/ amber running light features of the mirror work fine without dealer programming. The only negative is that the task lights do not work.

For my needs I dont imagine I'll spend the $125 to have them programmed just for task light function

My 2020 Trail Boss LT came from the factory with tow mirrors. The lower mirrors are manually adjusted with your hand. The upper mirrors are power adjusted with the buttons on the door. For button remains the same. Things like power fold and power extend are what will change the door button controls.

Thats what I thought. Thanks

My truck has Lane Change Assist,  dealer and Gm says Tow mirrors and on LCA truck will not work. After they sold me the truck with a mirror swap promise. I don't care if the LCA works on the tow mirrors, i know it cant. But can i not just do the harness swap and fire the code that comes with the mirrors and turn off LCA? Any info would be greatly appreciated
TIA

You lose a lot of tech when going with tow mirrors, which is stupid. GM half-assed the tow mirrors. No reason to lose cameras, LCA, 360 view of they had done things right. Stupidly, it also eliminated from park sensors, front camera, and rearview mirror camera.

I'm not an expert on this, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Changing the mirrors and wire harness may also require a recalibration from GM to make things work properly. Having to get a recalibration every time I swap mirrors can be exhausting and expensive.

    • Thanks for response. Leak was right under drivers seat or thereabout.   Had checked by other mechanics and have read other information.   The solution can be a tad complicated and replacing multiple parts And with some.  The issue was still the same.   The brakes do work.   Just that the pedal is softer and goes further down.  But the brakes do work.
    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
