I tested my truck and the 332 code reappeared at about 7 Highway miles. I erased the code to see if it would come on again? I’ve plowed and driven low speeds since and no codes yet? I am going to test it at highway speeds this week? I will post the results later.

Back to the starting line. Tested my truck at low speeds and short runs on the farm, everything looked great. Went on the highway at about 2000 RPM ( about 55 MPH ) for a few minuted the check engine light came on. Checked the codes and back to 332, 327, 172, 174? Am I looking at the wrong stuff? Willing to give it one more try to solve the problem? Kinds getting PO'ed doing the same thing with the same results over and over? ( Someone told me that's a sign of insanity ? ).

Can you smoke test the intake and also check your fuel pressure while driving?

 

The lean codes is what I'd be looking to solve with those two.

 

I've run into truck where even after I replace knock sensors and the harness with a new OEM one, it still tossed one of the two knock sensor codes for whatever reason. Even with checking the wiring all the way down into the PCM. I ended up having to disable the sensor with my tuning software to stop them from coming up. The sensors still work and everything even with the codes disabled.

OK. Start over with square one? 

 

I'll keep everyone posted. If the smoke test goes good probably look into a new MAF sensor.

 

Can I hurt the engine if the knock sensors are malfunctioning?

I wouldn't be at the point of a new MAF just yet. Checking for leaks after it and making sure fuel pressure is within spec to see if that is a cause for the two lean codes.

 

The knock sensor codes don't harm the engine, they just rob it of power. When a knock sensor code is active, it will pull ignition timing away.

Ok, just took a test drive and the check engine light came on again? Only the P0332? Why does it take a couple miles at 2000 RPM’s to set off the code again?? 
 

Am I wrong thinking if it was faulty the check engine light would be on all the time? 
 

To me this doesn’t make any sense. If it’s bad it’s bad?

Hopefully this last bit of information will Help?

 

The only code left is the P0 332 code. I've cleared it and it has stayed off for awhile now. I've tracked it down to: I will come on while decelerating or going down hill. I use the truck for hauling hay and it stayed off for quite awhile if I was using power or going flat or uphill. When I coasted downhill is when the check engine light comes on? Maybe time to cut my losses and call it good with only the 332 code (bank 2 knock sensor circuit low)?

Still have the P0 332 code going off and on? Cleared the code and used the truck for a 100 mile trip with my flatbed trailer, No code the whole trip. Drive locally and the code reappears? It seems to go longer and longer without sending the P0 332 code the more I use it and clear the code?

 

Don't really understand?

I am having the exact same issue I have changed mine twice both front and back with no luck at all , it's only the back sensor that's throwing codes it says I have low voltage ?

     I bought mine as a kit from O'Rilley Auto Parts wiring harness front and back sensors!

    I wish someone could help me with this issue. Is it true I can buy a performance tuner and delete the knock sensors?

You need to make sure your sensor are torqued correctly. I only use AC Delco parts. Check the wiring farther up the line t make sure it's intact

    • I have a `25, 1500 that auto sets on incline. Never knew that at first. I have the electronic shifter. Just think if it didn`t do that? Unlike a mechanical shift that you can muscle out of park, how would you get this thing out? That would be a problem.   What I found out later is, I don`t have to push the button to release. Just put it in gear.   Setting parameters? Don`t know if it`s possible.

I usually set the parking brake (habit) when on flat ground for typical driving.    When backed down on the launch ramp to launch the boat and I place gear selector into Park, the parking brake activates automatically. My second nature is to set parking brake manually and noticed I was turing the parking brake off.  The parking brake appears to be setting itself automatically.   I looked all over my owner's manual and only found references to being on an incline and manually setting parking brake, or at times parking brake will be auto engaged, but nothing specific to my situation.    When is the parking brake automatically engaged?  Under what specific circumstances?  Can the auto set parameters be changed?     I like the auto set feature.  It would be nice if always engaged when shifted into Park and released when shifted out of Park (like my wifes 2025 RAV4).   Thanks!

Based on the 2000 samples in the SPEEDiagnostix database, increasing the oil viscosity in these engines, even those run on the track, showed no significant difference in results.   The smoking gun was in the oil chemistry. That is where the data shows higher instances of more wear. Molybdenum was the key; the higher the amount, the less the wear. Speed postulates that higher viscosity oils have more thickeners to artificially inflate their viscosity numbers. These thickeners lose viscosity under shear, and the result is that not all oils of the same viscosity have the same shear stability.   Having enough viscosity is the most important characteristic, but according to Speed, once that required viscosity level is reached, additive chemistry matters more than additional viscosity. Speed also states, oil pressure problems on the racetrack aren’t a viscosity problem; it’s an oiling system problem. Running a thicker oil is just a band-aid for an underlying oiling system problem.
    • Can it still be Assembled II?   Viscosity on the decline by various means. Heat on the rise making that worse. Engine RPM in the tank. Smaller motors with more boost trying to emulate an electric motor. Full torque, zero rpm. Then we will triple the OCI. Argh.    But wait....there is more. LSPI has pushed a shift from Ca to Mg and as that cost more PLUS the run to lower sulfur compounds the TBN is moving in the wrong direction for the increased OCI's demanded.    That not being enough to placate a demand for a parameter they can't measure the other sulfur bearing compounds are also under attack. That would be zinc and phosphorus sulfonate compounds. To some degree those are being replaced with boron esters and others, i.e. titanium ect. All of which have shorter service lives. And there there is the "Secrete Sauce" marketing for AW adds that 'Can't be detected by UOA's" but trust me because I (the blenders) never ever lie.    Spoiler alert; ALL additives are sacrificial! Smaller amounts of the old blended with less robust versions of the new do not equal longer service lives. So what are the blenders recommending? Wait for it.......   MOVING THE GOAL POSTS! OMG      Let's declare the long standing TAN/TBN crossover irrelevant and tell people that soot is a great 'graphite' based lubricant which can aid tribo films. Wait, what? Let's declare that the standards used for oxidation and nitration were to conservative and can be expanded. Let's tell them that because GDI fuel dilution, although being a VISCOSITY KILLER and an acid generator is actually okay because we have better base oils that limit viscosity failure limits. (Said knowing this is measured in fractions of a centipoise and in bases not commonly used in shelf oils)   Lying from the heart is not just the new normal but we have a public, a very young public, that is so ignorant of the facts and so sure of their "RESEARCH" into AI driven models base in regurgitated  instead of scientific research based unvarnished, peer reviewed FACTS that the incoming guard is loosing their grip on reality and the OEM's are tickled pink while the blends bend the knee.    You have an ever limited set of tools to work with. And sooner or later those will be taken from you as the API and the EPA strangle the last remaining fluids from the system. What you have left is your wits. If you care to use them.    At some point in the very near future it will not longer be possible to do "What is best for the machine", and be replaced with "The best you have access too". You WILL be rewarded with half the life and twice the cost. That isn't that hard to predict.         
    • I trust you saw the other comment where he knew what he was talking about !. Yes, these darned newer vehicles with all their so smart they are stupid technology, goes and drains the battery down. As you might see my other comment, I installed a Noco 5 battery tender under the hood and at this point still have the cord routed so I have to lift the hood and then plug it in but am typically parked in a garage or a shed so its not risking the engine hood in the wind. That way I am assured or hopefully so of not finding I have a battery drawn down and can't even start the truck and that also damages the battery to draw it down too far.
