Don't confuse these two.

The top is oxidation onset temperature based on oil temperature.

The second temperature appropriate SAE viscosity verses air temperature.

second fully formulated.

God resurrects a Conspiracy Theorist.

Tells the man that he is answering the most burning question he has.

Man says pleadingly, "I got to know Lord, who shot JFK?"

"That's an easy one." God says, "Lee Harvey Oswald".

Conspiracy Theorist mumbles to himself, "The goes higher than I thought"!

This isn't hard unless you insist on it being so

Lake says, The OEM is good with 5 ppm total wear metals

OEM Specs a 0W20 for fuel economy which wears slower at 3.8 ppm

Guy tries 5W30 and cuts wear to 2 ppm

Next guy tries 5W40 and adds ZDDP and sends it to 1 ppm (and still falling)

At what point do the receipts matter?

Is the lab lying?

Are four different people conspiring to fake a result?

:idiot:

Speaking of oil

Shocking corruption. Cuts to investments in green energy and giveaways to Big Oil in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act are raising everyone’s energy costs. The legislation will increase U.S. household energy costs by $170 billion by 2035, recent analysisfrom Energy Innovation finds, as well as cut approximately 760,000 clean energy jobs from the U.S. market by 2030 and shrink annual GDP by nearly $1 trillion. The oil and gas industry is celebratingthe OBB as the “most transformational legislation that [the fossil fuel industry] has seen in decades” — all while consumers could see their electricity bills increase by as much as $400 per year.

  • The oil and gas industry is House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) biggest political donor, and his super PAC accepted $2.2 millionfrom billionaire Big Oil tycoons in the first quarter of the year.

Drill, baby, drill. The American Petroleum Institute, Big Oil’s most powerful lobbying group, called the legislation a “once-in-a-generation win for American energy” by way of “unlocking access” to fossil fuels and “suspending harmful taxes.” “It includes almost all of our priorities,” the trade association’s president told CNBC. The bill, while slashing corporate taxes, expands multi-billion-dollar federal oil and gas subsidies, grants Big Oil a pay-for-play regulatory fast track for drilling and reduces royalties owed when companies drill on federal lands.

  • Increased fuel demand — caused by making the U.S. power grids more dependent on non-renewables — is expected to spark a 50 percent increase in wholesale power prices by 2035 and raise the cost of gasoline by $0.25 per gallon by 2035.

Green energy gassed out. While gifting the fossil fuel industry nearly all the handouts it lobbied for, Trump’s tax bill also gutted investments in green and renewable resources, terminating Biden-era clean energy tax credits that have spurred $321 billion in domestic energy production investments. According to Energy Innovation, these spending cuts will reduce electricity generation capacity by 340 gigawatts in the next decade — even as U.S. electricity demand could increase by 78 percent by 2050.

A crisis in the making. Since 2022, U.S. electricity prices have increased an estimated 13 percent, outpacing inflation. One in four low-income U.S. households spends more than 15 percent of their income on energy bills, and by 2026, utility companies are planning to hike electricity rates by $38.3 billion and gas rates by $3.5 billion. Meanwhile, last election cycle, the oil and gas industry spent $445 million to influence Trump and members of Congress, donation and lobbying records show.

You know you could spend all day quoting different competing articles. The CarPro radio show I listen to for months have said car prices are going to spike because of tariffs. Last week he said those were overstated. It hasn’t happened. Inflation was supposed to spike because of tariffs, it hasn’t happened. In a presser yesterday it was agreed that windmills were the most expensive inefficient forms of energy. The blades have to be replaced every 7 years. And disposing is a problem. The EU is going more towards nuclear. Solar is weather dependent and easily defeated by a simple hail storm. Ruining the panels. Solar panels and windmills are made in china. Pumping oil domestically gives the US the opportunity to control the evil doers by cutting their income flow from oil. We replace their oil with ours. Trade deals, tariffs, oil has helped quell disputes between countries recently. Some that have been going on it seems forever. The progress of the last six months can’t be overstated. Pure genius. I see the what is. Not the what could be by so called experts. They’d be nothing but worthless in the last six months.

California sent $83 billion more than we received to the federal government.

That means red states that receive more than they send rely on California for critical dollars from the federal government that help fund education, healthcare and — apparently — this new tax break supported by Oklahoma Republicans.

Democrats create jobs

This isn’t the people of Oklahoma’s fault. It’s irresponsible Republican legislators and governors who are so used to California paying for their necessities, they decide to give the money they have to rich folks instead of investing in their people and their needs.

You're welcome, I guess...

California is the largest state, right? The most expensive state to live in. The pay and cost of living is very high. Taxes are based on income. The federal government is the total of 50 states. Right? There’s no way California should get more money because of incompetence. I thrive in Texas. We left NJ because it’s much like California. If I move to California and sold my 3 Acres with two houses to move there. I’d be broke in two years. So I’m smart I thrive in Texas. I’m glad at least in some ways our government doesn’t reward stupidity. Probably why SS has a maximum payout. If you need to receive more you didn’t prepare right. That’s California.

One more thing. California had a surplus when the current Governor came in. They now have a severe deficit. I can’t wait for him to run for president.

You must be daft. California is helping pay for your state Texas and Stitts state Oklahoma.

My whole point here is no state is an island like you and your MAGA brain dead think.

When the blue states carry red states financially via FEDERAL TAXES it might be a great idea to acknowledge that for me to listen to your arguments of self sufficiency and prowess as a stalwart of standing alone on the Bible and self serving justice?

You can’t focus I guess ? I’m Cognitively impaired and can understand basic concepts. You paint Cali as a failed state but they pay your share of federal taxes. FEDERAL KITTY RIGHHT?

Well ye current leadership is cutting federal monies and killing certain industries to help good old oil I fought for in 1980-81. Why are we subsidizing big oil still? Cause MAGA and CITIZENS   who throw their hands up after being lied to and capitulating to anti Americans like our current POTUS.

Yeah I feel like my opinion should be heard cause I paid in blood and psyche FG or us to converse and debate it.

Here’s another thing @KARNUT this website continually allows an Internet, right wing focus that’s usually more nationalist, populist and acts like it’s just normal American thought. I’m here to tell you as a combat veteran who’s suffering for my service I get sick of hearing just one side of the story and by golly, I should have the opportunity to speak without being squelched. It affects our GM trucks. It affects our fuel. It affects our lives, so don’t lecture me about something you never freaking gave blood or treasure to.

and finally, I have begged for this website to turn me off and shut me off as my dementia progresses and as my pain progresses and they won’t do it I’ve asked him to do it so you argue with them all of you that complain about hearing a different point of view, and it offends your delicate little sensibilities Tell him to shut me off. I don’t need to be here. I’m here because I’m trying to share with maybe younger members who haven’t heard this point of view veterans point of view a person who lost his career point of view because he served this constitution.  I care about it.

    • That makes sense, and I think you are describing the real product problem. Capturing data is the easy part. If the owner or technician has to manually dig through five minutes of millisecond-level logs, the product has already failed. The device would be at the ECM harness, not at the OBD port, so I agree that data retrieval and event marking need to be thought through carefully. The way I am thinking about the architecture is: The recorder itself should not depend on a phone, app, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection to capture the event. It should always keep a local rolling buffer and lock the event locally. A button, phone app, or small cabin device would only act as an event marker. If the driver feels a stumble and presses the button 10–30 seconds later, the pre-buffer has to already contain the useful data. For data retrieval, the practical options would be a sealed service USB lead, Wi-Fi download, or a phone/cabin companion device. I would not expect the owner to remove the ECM-side module or work with raw files directly. The cloud or AI side would be for interpretation, not for capturing the event. The truck may have no connection when the issue happens, so the evidence has to be saved locally first. After that, cloud processing could help decode the data, compare it against baselines, and generate a readable report. For the first version, I would keep the automatic triggers conservative and objective: driver event marker bus-off error passive voltage drop / brownout device reset FIFO or queue overflow a normally periodic message disappearing side-to-side communication mismatch, if the topology supports that For “learning normal,” I agree with your point, but I would not want to overclaim it as automatic root-cause diagnosis at first. A realistic first step would be learned baseline comparison for that specific vehicle and operating condition. For example, a value would only be compared against similar conditions: RPM range load / MAP throttle position gear / vehicle speed coolant and oil temperature battery voltage AFM/DFM state, if decoded and validated Then the report could flag things like: this periodic message disappeared compared with its normal timing this value deviated from this vehicle’s normal range under similar conditions the same abnormal pattern repeated after the same type of event the anomaly occurred together with voltage, oil-pressure, misfire, or communication changes But I would still call that “abnormal pattern detected,” not “replace this part,” unless there is enough validated repair data behind it. So the intended product would not be “here is a huge log.” It would need to be an event package: what triggered the capture how much pre/post data was preserved what changed before and after the event whether the device itself reset, overflowed, or saw a bus error selected graphs around the event raw data only as supporting evidence From your perspective, what would make this kind of report useful instead of just another datalog? For example: What are the top 5 parameters or events you would want highlighted first? Would you trust a learned baseline for that specific vehicle, or would you prefer fixed thresholds? How much false-positive flagging would be acceptable before you stopped looking at the reports? What would a one-page report need to show for an independent shop to take it seriously? For misfire, AFM/DFM, oil pressure, or U-code complaints, what would you want the tool to flag automatically?
