Home Depot

My wife and I have had a horrible experience with Home Depot and I'm curious about other folks opinion of the company. We started remodeling our kitchen in August and just got the final parts last week. Between the special orders we placed (with their "help"), for the kitchen cabinets and flooring, they screwed enough things up to require seven reorders and 12 weeks to complete. I'll spare everyone the details, but basically I think we finally got things wrapped up because they ran out of things to screw up.

Have other folks here had similar (or good) experiences with Home Depot? We like them because we can get everything we need from one place but now I'd rather go to four difference companies than spend a single dime with them

If brains were gasoline, the entire staff combined at my local HD wouldn't have enough to power a piss ant's go-cart around the inside of a Froot Loop. I haven't ordered cabinets or anything, but whenever I go they have about 14 people working in the Returns area, all talking to each other, and 1 checkout counter open with 17 people in line. I was buying plumbing supplies last year for my shop and they had plenty of 3/4" copper pipe but were out of 3/4" connections. Stupid stuff like that.

I've had good results with our local HD. The staff was very friendly and personable, and also knowledgable. However our local Lowes is pathetic. But, the Lowes about 30 miles south of me is pretty good. I think its all about location.

I worked for Menards (like a home depot if you dont know) for over 4 yrs. I have seen a few problems like that especially with cabinets. Some were the fault of the employees and other tmes it was the customer (didnt like the color or said they were wrong when in fact they werent it was because they didnt like them)

I am more used to Menards as I used to live in "their town" but a year or so ago I moved to where they have Home Depots. We bought a lot of stuff through them such as new silestone countertops, paint, carpet, etc. We then had a problem with some of the loops on the carpeting coming up and after their "investigation" of it they basically said "tough" it is not a factory defect. So from now on I probably wont do any more major shopping there.

Best one I've heard all day.

I like Home Depot for the same reasons as anyone else.....Most of what you need is there.

I was in my local Home Depot this morning, looking at some options for heating the garage when a helpful employee walked up and said "can I help you find something?" I told him I was looking at heaters.....Here was his reply....get this....."We don't carry those due to the danger involved in people installing them"....Yup, he actually said that.

He was standing facing me, with his back to an entire wall of kerosene/propane/LP gas heaters.

I've had more trouble out of Lowes than Home Depot..

Their building a Super Lowes, the next county over, should be neat

I've always peronally had great experiences at home depot, but then again, I don't use their cabinet section (make my own), don't like the paints (use Sherwin Williams), and am perfectly cabable of picking my own lumber. I LOVE they way the local HD's are layed out.. everything makes sense. Lowes up here is a different story... confusing as all hell. Buy a light fixture, have to go to the OTHER side of the store for a light bulb  The kid working electrical there didn't know if they sold 6 gauge copper wire, or WHY I would want to "bond" anything with it :D Depot on the otehr hand.... rather helpful most of the time, and the checkout girls are BABES :wtf::lol:
