Aftermarket Tow Mirrors

Hello,

First I want to start by saying that I'm not too mechanically inclined. However, after watching a few videos I can work my way around a truck.

I recently purchased some aftermarket tow mirrors for my 2018 Silverado 1500 LT. My truck did not come with a power-folding option so I ordered a power switch. I noticed that I had two connectors with additional wiring. After I installed them I had no function in either mirror. I took it to a shop where the only success they had was making the mirror function. I had zero lights, turn signal, or the power-folding option. Is it possible to make a harness suitable for my situation?

Harnessdr.com also known as pgamboa in the forums.

You have to do new door harnesses for the lighting to work.  Not sure on power fold on an LT but pgamoba might have an upgrade for that.

Where did you get the mirrors from? I got mine from boost auto, install was straight forward and they ship plug and play, any functions that your truck didn't have stock that the new mirrors have they have a 50 dollar wiring kit that includes all the missing wires from your current door harness. You should not need a whole new harness, and it saves you a couple hundred from buying a whole new door harness

...adding the missing wires is easy bc they have step by step video instructions to fish the wires and ensure you locate the proper slots for the new wires. If I'm not mistaken The 50 dollar kit should include all missing wires for all mirror functions to work. I have an sle and my mirrors only had power to adjust the glass, new tow mirrors are not power fold but everything else works, puddle lamp, power adjust, signal lights, running lights.

Having said all this, I realize you said you aren't the most mechanically inclined, but if you have the time and a bit of giver in ya it's pretty easy. I'd say if you got the mirrors on yourself already then you should be able to wire them up too.

Also, let us know what kind of aftermarket mirrors, or if they are oem, as I don't think they are all wired the same.

Go on the boost auto website and look at the instructional videos, you'll quickly learn if you'll be in over your head or not. Boost auto was always willing to help and quick to respond to emails too.

I bought the mirrors on eBay, I believe the company was called K2Motors. And, I purchases the wiring kit and power folding switch from boost autos.

I've watched the boost auto video which were very detailed. However, in the beginning of the video it said, "if your mirrors comes with a secondary connector, reference the other video". So I'm not sure if I connect the wiring to the harness if my lights will work.
