Just Purchased the Eibach Pro-Truck Lift...Question

Vehicle:

2020 Chevrolet LT Z71 with stock suspension

Anticipated Lift: ~2.5" above factory once installed

 

Hey all, 

I just purchased the Eibach Pro-Truck Lift  with the shocks/springs combo and I have a few questions I was hoping you all could answer.

  

Questions:

1.  Does the Z71 come with rear blocks and if so, what size?  I've read conflicting posts so I would like to be certain.

2.  I don't want the truck to be leveled since I use the bed a lot for dirt bikes, tools, etc.  What size block would I need to keep the factory rake once lifted?

3.  I don't mind spending a little extra to keep small businesses going, so do y'all have any recommendations for businesses to purchase the blocks from other than the dealership?

Congrats!

 

1. The new Z71's/Silverados do not come with rear blocks like the old body style did. At least mine does not have any existing rear blocks nor do people I've seen around here.

2. I'm like you and like to have the rear slightly higher but not substantially. I hate to say it but it is VERY dependent and specific to your vehicle. There are some ball park amounts thrown around out here, or what places will tell you over the phone, but those are generalities or specific to what worked for them. If I put a 2" spacer on my front the nose will be high, 2.5" is out of the question. Others say that gets them perfectly level. For me, I suspect I want a net 1.5" front increase... but that's different than others.  So moral of the story is for you to do your specific measurements of your truck to determine what stance you want. Measure now front and back, then figure how much front lift those will give you (they're adjustable I think) and then you can net the difference for rear block. Some will say get 2", you're probably looking like you may want a 1" block. But again... measure for YOUR truck.

3. No recs from me but plenty others have guidance on this.

 

Ps - very interested to hear how you like the Eibachs once you get them on. What size tires are you looking at going with? Post pics

IM ALSO VERY INTERESTED IN EIBACH ON THE FRONT'S , JUST PUT THEM ON THE REAR AND THEY VERY NICE FEEL.

 

ALSO NO BLOCKS ON MY REAR EITHER A 19 LT 1500 2WD 5.3

 

I HAVE 2.5  INCH DIFF NOW AND WOULD LIKE TO BE APPROX 1 INCH DIFF WHEN DONE  Duramax3oh

I currently have the Bridgestone Duelers and I very much prefer a stock look so I will not be changing the wheels and/or tires out.  Once the Duelers wear out, I'll most likely go with OEM replacement or a variant of the Nitto Grappler series in stock, or taller sizing, but not wider.

If you want to keep the factory rake then you will need a rear lift block equal to your front lift.  You can order a 2" lift block and U bolts from Rough country.  I've actually got a 2.5" lift block and u bolts that I can sell if you're interested.

The kit and tires arrived today. Ill try to get before and after pictures. I also had the air lift bags installed when i bought the truck 2019, definitely helps. The truck would squat significantly with not much weight, some what disappointing. The air lift bags took care of that issue though.

Yup I am interested too. I have until April 30th to decide on the eibach kit so I can get them on sell from their website.

so Eibach is still open and shipping stuff?....wonder if their service dept is open?

I talked to one of their reps and they said it's a 2-3 day wait on shipping right now but they should arrive within a week once out the door.  They also mentioned that online orders get first priority so order online when you decide to purchase. Mine should arrive by Friday, coming to Houston, TX from somewhere in California.

I looked at this kit. Their website says it only lifts the front 1.2” and 1” in the rear. Can anyone confirm?

That is without their spring.  If you get the kit that includes the springs as well as the 4 shocks, you bump the lift up by an additional inch.  Their springs account for the additional inch + making it a 2+ inch lift, but that is variable as well depending on the elevation slot you select on the shock.

How do you like that rough country grille kit?  I'm thinking about ordering it

      This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉

      Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
