Tricks for carrying soil, mulch, etc in bed?

Recommended Posts

This is my first pickup truck, had it since 2016.

I’ve loaded up with mulch, rocks, soil, etc maybe a dozen times.

Two things are always a pain in the butt.

-Cleaning out the space between the tailgate and the bed.

-actually getting rid of every last piece and cleaning the bed when I’m finished.

any tricks you long time pickup owners know?

Blow it out with a leaf blower.

Harbor Freight, cheap disposable tarp. Heck sometimes they’re free.

Put a tarp down in the bed before loading loose material. Leave some extra so it goes up the sides and up tailgate. Keeps stuff from getting in all the cracks and corners. Once you’ve removed most of the load, lift tarp out and you have a nice clean bed underneath!

I even tried driving like 25 mph in reverse and slamming on the brakes to shift them to the back. Didn’t work.

An awd launch actually worked a little better.

I usually thought of it after the fact while I was cleaning out every last piece of crap from the corners, etc.

Should have used a tarp... doh! ?

I can’t imagine what the neighbors thought I was doing. I did it twice. Barreling down the street in reverse and then tire screech.

You could get a gap guard for the space between the gate and box.

I’m gonna stick with a tarp i think

Now that I’m shoveling rocks. I have a life question.

on average, how many $50 wheelbarrows does the average person need to buy before they realize they are dumb and should have bought a $100 wheelbarrow.

My wheelbarrow just buckled and keeled over on its side under the weight.

So now I have

-a nice lawn full of f-ing rocks

-no wheelbarrow for the remaining rocks

damnit!!
