Engine Knock

2009 Silverado 5.3L w/afm and today at 2,400 ticked for the first time, i expect the engine must be broken in now??? lol. Sounds like lifters/rocker arms like the 4.3L has, in my opinion. Once it reached temp, no knock. Pressure isn't the problem because you get pressure instantly, it has to be temp.

 

I'm using Mobil 1 5w-30 and mobil 1 filter. Might try ac-delco filter next time???

 

p.s., lots of metal flakes in first oil change... first time i've had the cojones to actually sift through a first oil change... wow.

 

oil change done at 1,300 miles, fyi.

only happens to me when i first start the truck and its colder out, if truck was previously started and the engine is still warm it wont necessarily make any knocking noise at all.

I have a 2011 Yukon with a 6.2 and 14,000 miles. The engine knocks for 45 seconds on start up talked to the service manager and he said that this is normal but to bring it in and they will look at it. How can a new Yukon

have a knock this loud be normal?
