So I was browsing around and saw this feature for a bed view camera. But that view doesn’t seem to be available on my Sierra (2019 AT4 with the rear view camera surround view etc).

Is this 2020+ only? Anyone know if it involves a second third brake light camera or if it’s a software thing only?

First GMC and I’m very unused to every year having dramatically different features than that last it’s quite confusing haha.

Hopefully this new computer system gets cracked open soon and all these year to year features and restrictions can be updated coded in easily enough like you can on most makes haha ( still can’t figure out for the life of me what the difference is with the trailer camera side mirrors and my surround camera mirrors that allows you to use the cameras as trailer mirror views lol )

It is a separate camera on the 2020's. I think you can order a part with the extra camera in it. Not sure, tho. I will say, it has been very useful to have a bed camera. I have used it a lot.

Interesting. I agree it would be great to check on your load with the camera. It’s so funny the number of cameras GM is packing into these things.

I almost bought a 2019 but after finding out the 2020's were the only ones with the bed view and the adaptive cruise control I made a switch. I would assume if you wanted to upgrade to the third brake light bed view camera you would have to run a wire from the third brake light to the infotainment system. Good luck.

Yea I was on the limit between a 2020 and 2019. End of the day the new toys were not worth the 20k discount off the 2019 I got versus no incentives on 20’s.

20k buys a lot of upgrades haha.

It's a nice to have thing, but not a have to thing, IMO anyway.

Would I choose it as a yes or no? Of course. It's very convenient. But for me, unless I'm hauling a big load I'm going to be looking at the top of my Retrax bed cover. So there's that.

Big question is, can you add if yours don't have it? And can you do it at reasonable cost?  For those that just have to have more gadgets, ok. But I guess the tech stuff is still all sorta new for me coming out of a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500. That truck was a Flinstone mobile in comparison to the 2020 Denali. Except I could buy a Diablo tune for the 2010....darn it.

So my 2020 AT4 has the bed view camera.

There was another post on here from a user that wanted to purchase this light/camera package. Little steep on the price, I think around $1100.

It comes with the rear view mirror as well as the third brake light with two cameras. 1 camera for the bed view and then 1 camera for the rear view mirror.

I have found it to be nice when loading material in the back and making sure it stays.

I'll try to link to the post...

Cool,

I agree it’s not needed but would be a nice to have when hauling a varied load in the bed on the highway

Your traditional side mirrors will always let you know when you have "lost" something from the bed....

Interesting!  Does anyone know if bed view camera displays on rear view mirror or radio? I did upgrade to the rearview mirror cam and love it, may have to research the wiring harness for bed view cam.

The bed view displays on your radio like when you reverse. I will try and take some pictures when I get home of the views.

Ok Thank You!!
I forgot I took a picture of the view when we did a home project a weekend or two ago. Let me know if you need more :)28b4e5e907f8a01c8ff7b1efa2ded17d.jpg

    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
    • Anyone install a a supercharger on your 6.6L L8T? Talk to me...
