LOL!!! Too funny!!!  My "boring" 6.2L is a rocket ship for a pickup truck. It has taken down many mustangs, camaros, a tuned Impala SS, and many ecoboost Furds, plus it can tow my boat to a lake. Now tell me how that is boring?

When I had my 06 Trailblazer SS, there was nothing better than having 4 or 5 people in the vehicle, pulling up to a stop sign, and seeing some young "punk" kid in a mustang wanting to race, thinking his 4.6L was fast. Then mashing the gas pedal, letting the AWD and LS2 do the work and then seeing "him" in my rear view mirror.  It was always priceless. This new 6.2L and 10 speed combo is even more lethal. Any" performance gain", even if it's "minimal" is better than nothing at all.

Looking at your avatar, (which is a very nice looking corvette!) you would take any additional performance gain you could get whether it was minimal or not.   Also, not attacking you, just found it very comical! Take care

This is basically a cold air induction that comes from the grill instead of the hood. It's the same concept? Why wouldn't it benefit OUR trucks?

There is no way your truck is beating a 6th gen camaro (6.2 vs 6.2) in an actual race. Yes the truck is quick and could probably take the car off the line but the Camaro would leave it in the dust if they were trying

Oh and I own both so I have first hand experience with both vehicles

I never said a 6th gen camaro. I rented a 6th gen convertible while in Vegas, and they do scream for a $40k car. When I said camaro,....I meant a v6 and older ones. Just like the older mustangs and ect...

All I am saying is that these new trucks are doing things 10 years ago muscle cars weren't doing, that to me is impressive!

Im on the verge on buying this but at $200 of plastic isnt getting to me that it will make any performance gains. For the ones who has bought it, was it worth it and can you tell me your first hand experience after installed ?

All silliness aside, curiosity got the better of me.  I went to the Stillen site and was really surprised at what I read.  Are you aware that Sillen DOES NOT MAKE A SINGLE STATEMENT suggesting you will see ANY performance improvement with their "scoop".  I was amazed.  Typically, people hawking stuff like this will make unsubstantiated (i.e., non dyno) qualitative claims of performance gains.

This is VERY telling.  If a bolt on accessory provides ANY performance gain the seller of the accessory will generally make mention of the gain.  Even if it's a BS statement along the lines of "seat of the pants gains are felt", the makers/sellers of these accessories will play it up.  Accessories that truly provide improved performance will post quantitative data and substantiate their claim with dyno pulls, which even there are often quite misleading.

So, going by what Stillen says, or rather doesn't say, a performance improvement is not realized with this scoop.

TNTSilverado,

I see you got yourself one of them thar' rocket ship race pickups!  You must have gotten a factory unicorn as the power to weight ratio on these large bricks, even with the 6.2L aren't generally considered exciting.  I imagine you also have straight pipes on it to make it even faster AND louder?

Regarding performance and your comment that any performance gain, even if it's minimal is better than nothing is inconsistent with performance minded individuals.  You really need to consider the price you're paying for increased performance.  Installing a $3,000 thingamajig that results in a 4 hp/5 LB-FT gain on a 4,500 lb vehicle with 420HP/460lb-ft stock is a waste of money and effort.  Remember, as ludicrous as the example offered is, you're the one that said "any" gain...

Seeing you get your thrills street racing teenagers in clapped out Mustangs and family hauler SUV's against your rocket ship people movers loaded with passengers I can appreciate your lack of understanding of the concept I subscribe.

Also, in terms of performance vehicles your 6.2L pickup truck is boring.  Beating a "tuned" Impala SS does little to get my juices flowing.  If you're 16 to 18 years old that would explain the position you espouse.  Go get em' tiger!

Ahh, one of these guys, well then Mr. Sarcastic!

First off, I am far from 18! Wish I was, then my joints wouldn't ache from years of wear and tear of sports!

We are not talking about $3000?? We are talking about $200. So IDK where you got $3000. Plus, like I stated, this grill CAI acts just like a hood CAI, so why wouldn't it benefit the vehicle?

For a truck these new 6.2L trucks do very well. It can record a 0 to 60 in the low 5 sec range. For an over 5500 lb truck that is impressive. Most muscle cars 10 years ago couldn't do that. How about you go drive one and see how exciting they can be? It's no Corvette of course, but I am not talking about that am I. BTW, one of my best friends has a 2016 Procharged Corvette, and even he is impressed on how well these new trucks haul @$$ for the weight they carry. BTW...he is a pro race car driver!! To each their own "Buckwheat"!

NO, I do not have straight pipes on my truck. I am waiting for Gibson or Borla (S-type) to get their exhaust done for the standard bed truck mine is. Plus, idk if I want to spend $1300+ on exhaust when I could spend it on my kids and wife instead. They are more important to me than any vehicle.

Those 06-09 Impala SS were sleeper cars, and with it having all it's upgrades, and still having my stock truck beat it was very pleasing and impressive.

I am talking about a truck, not a Corvette here, so when I say rocket ship, please take that into consideration. Plus, my truck can haul my boat to the lake, something your Corvette can't do. But I will tell you that my 06 TB SS AWD would take a vette in a city block back in 2006, but at about 60 the Corvette would take over bc of aero, weight, and tranny. I wish GM would get their "act" together and make more performance oriented trucks/suvs.

I do get thrills out of taking an SUV or Truck and beating a muscle/sports car/or sport sedan. That is quite entertaining, and I am sure I'm not the only one on the site that doesn't get "kicks" out of it.

Finally, with these new trucks being harder and harder to crack for tuning, ANY HP/TQ "WE" as consumers can get out them is a POSITIVE! (Yes, I did say "any")  Heck, even the new C8's are hard to crack. So you being a Corvette guy, will/should appreciate any extra HP/TQ bump without spending tons of cash. But, from the sound of it, and your sarcasm, money must not be a problem for you Mr. Highroller-- (Good for you!!) To others, it is, and that is why the gentleman was asking about this. To most people $200 is a good chunk of change. I know to me it is. So have a fantastic day and enjoy your beautiful corvette, you silly little boy!

Exactly the point I'm making.  Dude is impressed that his new truck is "faster" than old, clapped out Camaro's and Mustang's or Impala's.  Same way he's commenting on how fast his 06 Trailblazer SS was.  I mean come on man, an 06 Trailblazer!?!?  Priceless.

Umm, read my posts.  NEVER did I use the word Corvette.  I fail to comprehend why you brought a Corvette into the conversation.  Bottom line is Stillen DOES NOT even suggest there is a performance gain with their product and as such, I think they're answering the OPs question themselves.

I love when guy driving a minivan takes off at a light and think they “beat” me in the car. All I can do is [emoji2361] I don’t have anything to prove I know what it is. Hope it gave them a few minutes of glory [emoji23]

Funny, a performance enthusiast knocking another individual who enjoys performance as well.  Regarding "Performance Minded Individuals", some people need a truck first and performance second so they are "ceiling limited" to start with, but that doesn't mean he cant be a performance minded individual and there is no reason to discourage somebody from spending THEIR money on THEIR likes.

Performance minded individuals like all different makes and models of cars.  That kid who spends $1,000 on a set of headers for a 1996 Honda Civic and gains maybe 3 hp is still a performance enthusiast, he's just limited by his platform, due to some reason, and that's ok.  That's the beauty of the auto world, doing things your own way, making your own choices, and getting your hands dirty in the process.  The 19/20 Silverado platform is limited right now due to the PCM, so there really isn't a lot that can be done, performance wise, that is truly a "value" in the traditional sense.  Not everybody has a designated performance car platform to work with, and I'm super glad to see that people are still trying to mod this platform, regardless of the limitations.  Everyone doesn't have to own a Corvette to be considered an auto enthusiast, or to be allowed to modify a vehicle for performance.  To be honest, most Corvette owners don't know their head from a hole in the ground when it comes to performance and value, and couldn't row through a 6-spd if they wanted too.  Otherwise they would have purchased a Camaro to start with and saved $20K+ for mods (through 2019, the 2020 mid-engine "Vette is a game changer).  Most (not all) own Corvettes as a status symbol of success, or as an image enhancer, and that's perfectly fine since it's their money and they are free spend their money however they see fit, but they are FAR from performance minded individuals.

Being a performance minded individual isn't about the car you own or the mods you do, its a mindset you have and a desire to increase a vehicles parameters outside of the manufacturers intended design.

Let him enjoy the fruits of his labor any way he chooses to and wait until your asked before starting to opine on his fiscal choices and the reasoning behind them.

Because you own one, and I was stating a point how my 06 TB SS could run with it back in 06.

"Dude"???  What are you 12??  You @$$ume I was 16 or 18, then using "DUDE" definitely makes you sound younger!  Your missing the point! Obviously! You're so lost in your world of Corvette heaven that you don't see the wonderful performance engineering GM has done with the LT1 6.2L in a TRUCK.  Put your ego aside and look at it for what it is.

Where did I state I own a Corvette?  What makes you think I'm lost in Corvette heaven.  Again, I never mentioned the word Corvette in ANY of my posts to this thread.  Seems like you really have a hard on for this Corvette thing just because there is a picture of a Corvette as my Avatar.  If I had a picture of

Too bad we can't have a little friendly banter without you taking it personnel.  I, nor anyone else that disagrees with you, resorted to childish name calling.  We're just having a fun back and forth discussion and you resort to name calling.  You've called me and others who disagree with you the following names instead of just having fun with the conversation/argument and letting facts support your position:

- Little fella

- Mr. Sarcastic

- Buckwheat

- Mr. Highroller

- Silly Little Boy

You sir, are hard to figure out...  You might take a deep breath, relax and have a little fun.  Life doesn't have to be so miserable.

Your avatar shows a Corvette. I also read in another post (about yellow Silverado colors) that you had a Corvette. So either your lying or wishing you had one. Hmmmm, that's how I know. No, this wasn't friendly banter when your sarcasm is to the point of "macho egoism"!

You can disagree with me all you want, but your way of disagreeing with me isn't friendly banter, you're obviously lacking in that department. You can do better next time though.  I was stating facts, my vehicles can do those things I said they could, and you obviously couldn't handle that, or should I say, you were very "DEMEANING" in your responses.  And you're missing the point ENTIRELY that I was making on the truck all together. Went way over your cranium.

I am far from angry or miserable. I truly enjoy life and am very blessed to have a wonderful family.  Who, I put FIRST before anything else.

Well, if you are so bent out of shape with those names, I will be man enough to APOLOGIZE to "YOU" for calling you Mr. Sarcastic, Mr. Highroller, and Buckwheat!!!!  I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. ?

Have a fantastic day!
