I've seen a few threads on this, but I'm starting a new one in case there's anyone like me that was looking for a quick answer. YES, LT285/70R17 will fit on the stock half ton suspension .. at least on mine it does! It's a 2016 Sierra 1500 regular cab base with 5.3, 3.42 and a snow plow prep option which means it has heavier front springs. Stock tires were 255/70R17 and the Ultra Maverick wheels I installed are the same as factory offset. Wheel wells stuffed!

Any rubbing at all going up hills or over bumps? thinking about putting this size on my stock truck but don't want any rub when I'm off-roading.

No rubbing at all. But remember that although there is no lift or leveling kit, mine does have the heavier front suspension as part of the plow prep option.
