Ok, folks; what did I do wrong?

'19 Sierra SLE 1500.  Bought used a few months ago; came with stock 17" wheels and all season tires.

Want to swap wheels (and the tires on them) and put on a set of 18" wheels (with 265/65/R18 AT tires) from my '08 Silverado. Dealer told me to swap them then come in to have the speedometer reprogrammed.  Expect a TPMS error but evertything else should be easy.

Made the swap this afternoon and things fell apart.  When I start the truck I get all sorts of errors (Service Brake Assist, Brake System Failure, Serivce ESC) plus a check engine light and a traction control light.  When I put the truck into drive or reverse it will not move; feels like something is holding it from moving.  And yes, all the jack stands and wheel chocks are removed; checked that 20 times.

2 different dealers are stumped; want me to either put old wheels back on or have it towed in.  Was supposed to leave on vacation Sunday; that's now scrapped.

About to call OnStar and see what errors they can see on their end.  Will pull front wheels off to ensure nothing got pinched but can't see anything obvious.  One dealer said to relearn TPMS but he couldn't believe that would have caused all of the errors.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Sounds like your front wheels are hitting your front calipers, most last gen wheels do not work on T1’s

Wheels binding on the calipers. Most older wheels won't work with the '19/'20 because of the larger piston calipers.

Put stock wheels back on, go on vacation and deal with it later.

Yeah, heading where there's snow and mud;.  That's the issue....those stock General Grabber all season worry me.

Did you tell the "2" dealers what year model wheels you put? How would they not even ask with the T1 having a different wheel?

Yes; said it to both service advisors.  Both said "we swap wheels all the time".

Question to the group; is this something that wheel spacers might fix? I have no experience with them.

Yep, 2 service guppy advisors who don't know there ass. Sure, dealers swap wheels all the time but with the correct wheels. They should know better that older wheels won't work on a T1 ('19/'20) but not surprising. Quick tutorial. Only a few '14-'18 wheels will work. The bolt pattern is the same and they are hub centric but most won't fit. OEM wheels from an '08?  No go. The offset for '19/'20 is different but, it's not just the offset ; it's the angle of the spokes to clear the calipers. I'm stumped on how 2 service dept.'s were stumped and couldn't figure this one out ?

Yes, you can run wheel spacers to solve the issues, use some regular washers to figure out how much of a spacer you need, once you have enough you can measure and order exactly what is needed for the clearance. Most do not like spacers, and I do not either but if you're only looking for a minimal amount I guess it's not that big of a deal in my opinion.
