Knock Sensor light

Good Morning, I wanted to see if anyone has knowledge of the knock sensors in the 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 models and what they affect when failing? My light started coming on last week and the mechanic says the intake has to be removed to get to the sensors. Just want to know how serous an issue this is to be corrected.

It will still run forever with the knock sensor codes but it will be down on power. Any time a knock sensor code is present the computer will remove ignition timing thus removing power from the engine.

 

Knock sensor failures are very common on those trucks.

I'm looking for part numbers for gm  knock sensor and wiring harness....If anyone has information on these please let me know.

the model truck I have is a 2004 gmc sierra 5.3 L
