Center Console Vault

My truck came from the factory with the center console vault/safe.  It is difficult to open /lift the lid.  Is or was it suppose to have a lever to assist with lifting?  I’ve seen pic of others with a tab that appears to sit under the combination knob.  Not sure if that’s only on the aftermarket units.  This is what mine looks like.

That's the same as mine - factory ordered as well...

I drilled a 1/8" hole in the lid and attached a hex flange nut upside down. Gives you something to grab on to.

Wondering if your springs are nor installed correctly?  When I turn the knob to release the latch, it opens an inch or so.  From there, it is easy to open with the dial/knob or by grabbing the front of the lid...

Possibly, mine certainly doesn't pop up at all.
