Heated Steering Wheel

Does anyone else out there think that this would be a nice feature to have? Heck if you can get heated seats then why not have a heated steering wheel part of that option. I know that till the vehicle gets warmed up my hands still are cold, especially after scrapping frost off the windows.

Looks like TRW has the technology, you would think the big 3 would incorporate it and raise the vehicle price a couple grand to make a larger profit. Seems like they do that with everything else. Options, seems like the vehicle market is all about options. Heated steering wheel would be a nice one if you ask me.

Ok now those that live in warm climates might not want it. So that is where a cooled steering wheel option would come into play.

What do everyone think????

Hey when I lived in a some what cold place..(VA)...I always thought how nice it would be to have warm hands and a warn a**.....and if someone could get some ice water flowing though my seats, for those Aug afternoons down here in FL it sure would be nice.

It's not the ability to do it, but rather cost.

The average steering column has all this in it;

-Horn and wiring

-Airbag, wiring, and the entire assembly

-HVAC and stereo controls and there related wiring

-Cruise control

-Wiper controls

-High beam controls

-Ignition switch and wiring

-column lock mechanism

-Tilt/Telescoping

There may be one or two I could've forgotten. Until it becomes more mainstream, you'll only see it on Caddy's and other "premium" vehicles. Heck telescoping columns are just becoming common on lesser cars like the new Malibu.

However, I'm a man! I am impervious to the cold, real men don't wear gloves in winter. Heck, if anything, I only wear a light windbreaker in the winter. Some of ya need to toughen up some.:thumbs:

Okay, so I'm a wuss :D

Now I'm scared to say that I wear a nice heavy jacket.... heck I'll even wear a hat.

So what's the CMNT method for toughening up? ripping phone books in half? crushing beer cans on your head? teach us oh wise one

Exactly, this is why the heated steering wheel would be nice. To get the frost out from under my fingernails while I'm driving.

Jacket? I don't need not stinkin jacket! That is what the heated seat option is for. :D

I will admit being here in NC for 20 yrs has thinned my blood somewhat from when I moved from the mountains of Pa.

I still enjoy having the window down most of the winter...I do fire up the heat to balance it out somewhat. Now I usually don't wear a jacket at work, it gets too darn bulky in the Vic with all of the gear and the vest and such on. Some of the guys think I'm crazy, but if you're moving around, you don't get too cold. Of course my first year of college when I was walking to breakfast and the air temp was 26 below with 50mph winds = a -70 windchill...now that was just a tad brisk.
