Hi all. I'm looking at a 2019 Silverado with the 5.3L V8 with 33k miles. Does anyone have experience with this truck/engine that has had problems?
Are there any known problems that he should look for? I'm playing on the Casino Classic here is their review https://bestcasinos-ca.com/reviews/casino-classic.php and can spend more money for a good car. Thanks for your advice.

Which 5.3L V8 is it? There are two options for 2019+. The WT, and Custom (& Custom Trail Boss) Silverados got the L83 5.3L with the 6spd automatic. This is the engine with Active Fuel Management (AFM) that shuts the cylinders down from 8 to 4.

The trim levels LT, RST, TB, LTZ and High Country all have the L84 5.3L with "DFM" - Dynamic Fuel Management - which shuts down the cylinders in a variety of patterns at any given time.

Either way, both engine variants have a very good record of high reliability.

It's more the transmission in the 5.3L that delivers a wide variety of opinions - the 8 speed automatic. Many do not like it, others tolerate it, and still others have had good experiences with it.

My personal experience is that my 5.3L L84 and 8spd in my RST has been a great combo so far after 14K miles. My 8spd has had some harsh shifts from time to time, but I still think it's been a good transmission. MUCH better than the 4spd I came from in my 2007 with the 5.3L V8.

The only other major issue you're going to run into with 100% certainty with this truck is a leaking rear window if it's a model with a sliding rear window. There's a 170+ page thread on that in these here forums. Mine has leaked, but again... I still love my truck regardless.

I have the 5.3L 8-speed and I really like it. Having said that, this is my first truck and does not drive like past vehicles so I don’t have anything to compare it to. I really like it and if I could change anything I would have gotten the 10-speed just based on popular opinion. The 8-speed is just fine.

Is it the new for '19 body style or is it the same as the '18's?

(both were offered in '19)

I have a 2019 5.3/8 speed.  I came out of a 2016 6.2/8 speed.

This new combo works for me just fine.  Here is my lifetime mileage.  I do not change my driving style for fuel mileage at all.  Whatever it is, it is.
