Just took delivery of a 2021 Sierra 3500 HD. Looking at the brake rotors, they seem a little small for the intended duty.  Anyone have experience to share and recommendations regarding the need or lack thereof for larger brakes?  Is there an aftermarket kit that GMC folks go to?

My max trailer weight probably 18k lbs but more typically will be towing 15k. I expect to tow through hills but not usually major mountain passes.

thanks!

The stock setup is more than enough for towing.  The combo of the engine exhaust brake and rotors and perfect for mountain towing..

No, the factory GM engineers designed an inadequate braking system on a 3500 truck that maxes out at over 30,000 pounds!!! They didn’t factor any extra for safety factor and wanted the additional liability too!!! Gotta love the internet trolls!!!

I feel the brakes are weak considering what they are designed to haul and tow.....my 1500s brakes were much better

I do believe GM has kit though idk if its just for 1500s or 2500s as well....am sure if you reach out to braking companies they have something....not cheap though

But yeah the brakes should be alot stronger imo....
