How long has the 6.6 engine been out?  Just this year's trucks?  Or?

What is the gas mileage difference between a 2500 and a 1500?  Not much?

The 6.6 came out in the 2020 model year so this is its second.

The mileage will be worse than any of the latest 1500 options.  But about the same as what I get in my 20 year old 5.3 (which is 15-ish +/- empty, 9-ish towing).

i had a 2019 RST 5.3 and now have 2020 2500 6.6 gas.....i get around 11mpg avg in my 2500 and 8mpg in city.....my 1500 was i believe 16 or 17 avg and 13 in the city.... i was driving alot more highway miles in my 1500 at that time and my 2500 has been more city....... its noticeable for sure and if i dont hit the hwy for awhile i burn thru a tank pretty quick

2500s like momentum.....keep it moving and its really good 22mpg is my best on hwy with 18-20 being avg

they do not like stop and go so depends on your area and type of driving you do

For what it's worth, I just finished my first tank of fuel in my gas 2500 High Country CCSB 4WD. I averaged 10mpg but I had a lot of city driving. Maybe 100 miles interstate the rest on slow city roads. One tank isn't a lot of data so take that for whatever it's worth.

My 2019 2500 says "best 12.6"  haha.  I drive country highway part way (90 to 100km) , and then in town every day (60km, stop lights, traffic but nothing like the "city") ---have to cross town to get to work.
