New Diesel- Camper shell/cap vs tonneau

New member, first post so go easy one me! Trying to sell my 2016 1500 SLE and waiting on my 2021 GMC 2500HD SLE Crew Cab to be delivered next week. Very excited, although I see a lot of issues across this forum with problems and uncomfortable seats (my 16 bench seat is very comfortable). This will be my first diesel, I have always had V8 gassers, and my 2016 was great, but looking for a diesel for towing my travel trailer.

Had the Bakflip MX4 on my 16, they had to send a second one due to scratches and fitment issues on the first. Still never had a good fit, and it was never very "water resistant". Considering a shell for the New truck although my wife says I'm about 30 years to young to put one on, but what does she know?!?

Anyone have any recommendations for sleek looking caps/camper shells for the 2020+ 2500s? I see a lot of people on here recommending tonneau covers in case I go that route, but thought I would throw it out there.

Also, any recommended great mods to start with prior to suspension, wheels, tires, etc. Would be much appreciated!

i did a lot of research on camper shells four years ago and snugtop seems to have the beat reputation, but they do cost more.

I loved the ranch magnum I had on my ram a few years ago. It is a fiberglass cap with the side tool boxes which were great for golf clubs or any other items you may not want damaged rolling around the bed. The only downfall to it (for my wife anyways) is that there are no windows, but I am used to driving vehicles that have no back window.

Once we upgraded trucks I was planning on a 5th wheel so we went with the backflip f1, I see what you are saying with the fitment issues but I lucked out and at least mine is dry.

I have a 2021 Silverado 2500HD, CC, Duramax...just ordered a Leer cap for it. Have to wait 6 weeks before I take delivery. But I like what it has... altho, not inexpensive!

Nice! I've been looking at those, but wish the website told pricing! I'll be anxious to see it once you have it if you can post some pictures!
