Help!! Truck won’t start

Recommended Posts

Ok..  so I was uninstalling my rollbar on my 2019 custom trailboss because I had plan on trading it in this weekend to a LT trailboss. Got to the wire harness part and could not get the wire out from underneath the fuse box under the hood. So I ended up just cutting that wire. (It was the correct wire, wire for the roll bar harness).  Went to start my truck and now it won’t start, won’t even crank. Music, lights and everything comes on but it will not crank.

it says to service battery charging system, service esc, service 4 wheel drive, traction control off.
hooked my scan reader up to it and it’s showing 8 codes.

P062B. P0690. P16B3. P16BF. P062B pd. P0690 pd. P16B3 pd. P16BF pd.

I got a appointment Wednesday to get it towed and looked at by the dealer but does anybody know what the problem is?  I checked fuses and relays and none seem to be blown, unhooked the battery for about 20 mins and nothing, any ideas??

Did you check to make sure the negative cable for the starter was still connected to the negative terminal of the battery? It may have dropper under or next to the battery between the battery and firewall under the windshield if you messed with that terminal. It happened to me once, and I didn't realize it. Check to make sure it's still connected.

I'm somewhat concerned here.  I think whoever installed the sport bar originally tied the bar into the wrong circuit and now you cutting the wire has interrupted the Powertrain Main Relay #1 power supply hence your no start.

You are gonna have to pull the UEC off and get down to the connectors.  The connector they should have tied into is X2 (top right) but it sounds like they tied into X3 (bottom left).

UEC (Underhood Electrical Center)

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Vehicle Service Manual.
  2. Disengage the retaining tabs and remove the UEC cover (1) from the top of the UEC.
  3. Remove the nut (3) and terminal ring (4) from the UEC terminal post (1).
  4. Loosen the four bolts (2) on the top of UEC.
  5. Disengage the retaining tabs (1), pull up and remove the UEC (2) from its base.
  6. Remove the fasteners (4) from the UEC base (5).
  7. Disengage retaining tab (3) from side bracket (2).
  8. Lift up and remove UEC base from brackets (1), (2).
  9. Locate body 2 connector (2) in the UEC and remove body 2 connector (2) from clip to access the wire side of connector. Refer to Delphi Connectors in Vehicle Service Manual.

Note: If terminal is not present in cavity H1, insert the CHMSL wire terminal on the sport bar harness into cavity H1 and proceed to step 13.

  10. Locate Cavity H1 (1) on the Body 2 connector (2) in the UEC and remove the terminal from Cavity H1, if present, DO NOT CUT OFF terminal. Remove Terminal per service guidelines. Refer to Delphi Connectors in Vehicle Service Manual.
  11. Use slit in convolute to insert terminated CHMSL wire from underbody harness into Cavity H1 in place of the removed circuit.
  12. Cover the terminal that was removed and the un-needed terminal from the accessory harness with vinyl tape and store them out of the way. Proceed to step 14

Note: Do not cut off the terminal that was removed, the vehicle owner may want to return to the original CHMSL.

So after you've digested the info above...

HOPEFULLY who ever installed it left the terminal for that in there taped up on the end of a piece of wire.

If not, you will have to splice the end of the sport bar wire with the terminal that you left in there into the wire that should be taped up near by.  It sounds like it was tied into slot H1 on X3 so in the picture of the electrical main connectors, the bottom left.  It SHOULD have been put into H1 in the top right plug which is X2 connector.

The slot H1 ignition relay supply #1 power wire per the connector chart above is a VIOLET WIRE with a BLUE STRIPE.
