In the market now to pick up something to disable the DFM on my L87. I know the pulsar has been the go to option but I see some new hand held tuners that have piqued my interest.

Anyone go after one of these new handheld programmers?

Edge, Diablo, Superchips

Edge/Diablo/Superchips are all on a modded ECM exchange.  You can't just get the tuner and boom done, you need to swap your ECM with them as well.

Pulsar is just an inline plug and play device, no ECM swap required.

Yep done some research on them with the exchange ECM service. It is what it is.

Are you running a Pulsar?

I am running one for a couple weeks now, can I answer any questions for you?

Pulsar LT for DFM shut off, auto start stop feature and throttle response.

With everything setup, have you noticed any changes in the trucks behavior once selecting sport mode? Say throttle response set to 3 on normal mode and switching over to sport mode does everything carry over and once in sport mode even more aggressive?

Yes I run it on 3 actually and YES sport mode does what Sport more usually does, holding the rpms etc for shifting, myself it is a bit too much for my use with this truck if I use that combo.

I have found no negatives really from it the auto start stop is nice not too think about I have not done a thorough test on mpg difference on the highway with dfm active vs deactivated, however in my preliminary testing I was getting better with dfm working.

Which I know no one wants to hear...haha.

Sounds good. I’ve got to get rid of the DFM and the helicopter noise. I wonder if the fuel economy has decreased because of the increased throttle sensitivity?

Thanks for the feedback.

I am trying to be "normal" with my foot as that can be however the prelim test was highway driving thus far.

My plan is the exact rt with cruise control both directions one dfm active the other inactive same speed over 40 miles each way, as we know city mpg has too many variables.

I have gotten 24mpg consistantly on trips with this truck in AZ and Nevada at 74mph with dfm still active.

I've had a similar experience like Robby, good response and too many horror stories with the AFM to not hedge that bet. However, my experience with MPG is quite opposite and mine has gone down. I have the 6.2 with 10sp and it has made my day to day driving much more enjoyable. I do a lot of city driving and likely have a heavier foot than most. I don't use race mode on mine but keep the Pulsar at level 3.

For me the Range was fine but would have had to combine it with the in-dash auto start/stop disabler and Pedal Commander. I pulled them out and replaced with the Pulsar. Individually, they all worked as advertised but wanted a cleaner solution.

@MikeDP What is the helicopter noise you are referring to?

Right now the cluster is showing 17 mpg at the 400 mile setting. Mostly highway. I have the Rotofab intake and Borla S-type catback with quad tips. Factory setup 6.2 10 speed boss with 18’s and Duratracs.

I can’t stand the DFM now that I can hear it with the intake and exhaust. Even in sport mode the throttle is too relaxed for me. (Came from a BMW)

When cruising down the highway you can hear/feel a different noise and more vibration in the truck as it’s going down to 2-3 cylinders. When I select L9 it is constant V8 mode and no odd noise.

I bought a 6.2 not a Prius.
